Great review! Wasn't aware of this rower, the beginning of your video had me searching for one, and the end made me close my search windows. Thanks!

Glad I could help! Based on their other 2 products I own I thought this one would at least be comparable functionally, and even if it was a one-off malfunction, for it to happen to quickly into its lifespan and under really normal use, does not make me recommend this one.

Thanks for this review. Wow, I prefer rowing for my cardio and over fitness and thought this was a great deal with I saw it on Amazon. But breaking after a month? Oh well. I'll spend more money on a different model until I can afford a Concept2

Thank you for the kind words! And yes I also like having a rower as an option. As you said if you prefer rowing as your main form of cardio, I would spend a little more and get something tried and true. A used concept 2 would be perfect!

Given that this abd its compatriots appear to by millimeter-by-millimeter clones of a C2 Model D, it would be curious to see if after it broke, can you replace/rebuild with genuine C2 parts?

You can certainly try! I remember from a year or two ago, Coop mentioned that some rower he reviewed you could in fact do that. It wouldn’t be too far fetched to think it could work here too Although thankfully, I was able to return mine to Amazon, so I don’t have it anymore

Thanks for the review. Walmart has it on sale for $219 online and free shipping. $34 for a 3yr warranty. Is $254 shipped worth the gamble if there’s a protection plan in place?

that’s the price I would consider it, and actually purchased it at. But I would ask how often do you plan to use it? Just the installation of the support legs and having to pack it back up again would maybe deter me even again at that price point. Meaning, if you use it often and want it to last I would say try to find a used C2. Otherwise for occasional use you could try with the protection plan.

I just saw this at wm too and am considering it. this vid is pretty much the only thing I could find online about it, but with the 90 days return policy i might give it a go. what do you think?

@jdO1O1O1 the frugal guy in me agrees, I am surprised mine broke with some limited use. I am hoping your results may vary!

My general philosophy with budget versions of expensive things is that it has to be mostly free of “this will break in a month” reviews online. And it must not cost more than 20% of the quality version. Because I basically see it as a trial version of the object. If I use it for several years then it warrants me buying a lifetime quality version. But nobody should spend $5500 on a leg press machine only to find they never use it. so buy the $1000 version first. But if you’re gonna spend $300 on a $900 item I’d rather just save up for the lifetime purchase. unless the reviews online say it’s just as good. But when that happens the price gets jacked up way beyond 20% of the name brand anyway.

That makes total sense and is honestly great advice to people equipping their gym on any budget, unless money is literally of no object! I fell into “trial” category with the stairclimber and the leg press I bought. The stairclimber has lasted a year and I’ve been using it a ton so if it ever breaks I know paying more would be worth it.
