Here's the thing. I live alone and make good money. I believe I also have an addictive personality. It's been like .....🤔🤔🤔 4 months since I've done coke, and not because of an addiction, but because the science behind cocaine is that it's a Nootropic. It stimulates the mind and works for you even after the effects have worn off. However, abusing cocaine, is no longer a Nootropic. At wich point, you're using so much, it burns out your synapse. Thus, rendering you unable to produce normal amounts of happy chemicals. I'm not condoning the use of cocaine, but at the same time, when you go through your bills and realize "Hmm, I don't have enough to party today, I'd rather have a house" that's when you know you can walk away at any given time and come back for a Friday night of fun. Your best bet is to stay off of it completely.

I was a coke addict for a few years in my mid 20's. I was actually very functional for a couple years despite heavy use. Nobody outside of my drug friends knew. I never did it at work, but it did get to the point where I was buying my bags on my lunch break at work so that I could have it ready when I got home. Early signs of a serious problem. What led me to my downward spiral though, was when I was introduced to Xanax, which solved the problem of not being able to sleep after a coke binge. This ultimately led to a veryyy quick spiral as Xanax completely destroys a person and their self awareness. People DID know that I was on Xanax, even though I was 1000% blind to it. My life fell to shambles within a couple months, and I ultimately stopped doing drugs nearly 4 years ago now. Life is good now, but coke addiction can be a very invisible problem and hard to spot.

Pretty similar Story here. Very funktional, no use at work only after. But always having the problem to sleep ended in a Benzo addiction, which destroyed me completely within a few years. Still not able to work yet, fortunately I am well-insured. I need to point out, though, that it was mostly the Benzos that made me unfit for work and created a lasting Problem: the Coke addiction is gone, but the Benzo addiction is much harder to Beat.

Staying up until 8 in the morning riding that roller coaster going up and down in total pain and suffering feeling like theres no way out of it and so you just keep going. Dude, I definitely know that feeling. When I got into AA a few years ago (not in it anymore), I realized that my drinking and partying felt like me walking down a long, dark road into a dark abyss. It's literally a vision of me walking down an empty street at night in a completely abandoned city with some ghost-town city lights flickering and hanging off by a thread, nobody around, all buildings vacant, some trash blowing off in the distance and I'm just walking down this street all by myself and it doesn't stop...maybe the city eventually would come to a stop but the dark and empty road doesn't, it just keeps going. Honestly it's a horrifying feeling every time I think about that, just so sad and scary. Thanks for sharing that man.

I have a dear friend that currently owes me about $1000 and he is always doing coke. I would come home from the army around the holidays and every time I saw him he was either getting doing or talking about cocaine. I left that life behind along time ago and it hurts me to see him like he is. I doubt I will ever get my money back and he was pulling the I need help card and me considering him as a brother would help. I had to just not buy into it anymore. It sucks because I would have always helped him but I refuse to be a part of his addiction any longer.

I have a friend too. She’s 40 years old. Last June 2023, we reconnected. Because we didn’t talk or hang out for 6 months. There was no beef between us. We just stopped talking. But last June, I found out that she does coke because she told me she was doing it with her other friend….fast forward, on September 2023, she asked me if I could lend her $1,800.00 because she needed it to pay off her debts. To this day, she keeps saying she will slowly pay me back but I haven’t seen a single dollar!!!! She always brings up about doing “coke” to stay awake because she’s ALWAYS tired!…whether she’s joking or not, but I suspect that she’s a coke (addict). We live 30 kilometres away from each other. We talk a lot on the phone but just don’t see each other….anyways, that $1,800 I doubt I will ever see it back!

I live in California and was first tried coke in May 2015, then started using it until December 2018. Been clean since then. In November of 2018 I developed a little hole in my septum like the one that Steve-O has, which really scared me, but I still used it couple times after that. What helped me to get clean was me flying to my parents to Russia for 2 months, and when I returned back to California in February of 2019, I did it once but it only made me feel anxious and paranoid and I finally let go off my addiction and haven’t done it since. Had couple friends who did it around me after that, but it didn’t trigger me, and thankfully I never relapsed and never will. And I just wanted to say that even though if you feel like you just can’t stop using coke and you think it’s just something you might have to do for the rest of your life, don’t give up! You can quit it! Just go somewhere away from where you are, go to the place where you won’t have anyone around doing coke and you won’t be able to buy it there, just go there for couple months, and you won’t regret it!

My advice for anyone trying to quit is u gotta avoid the triggers… mine were women, sex and porn. I was only able to quit after I became celibate and stopped watching porn. For me cocaine was the ultimate aphrodisiac but overtime it eats away at you physically and affects your performance where u haven’t do more coke to overcome it. It’s a vicious downward spiral. Last time I spoke to my best friend I found out he was a coke addict. I'm 19 years old and I've known this guy literally since the day I was born, (our older sisters were also best friends at the time). I caught up with him over the phone about 5 days ago, he lives in Israel now. When he said he was using coke to help his sale performances, a part of me shattered inside. Seeing someone you grew up with become addicted to drugs is one of the saddest things and then knowing you can't do anything physically besides just advising them to not do it also hurts a lot. My friend went from being a pure, kind hearted and bubbly soul.. to one that gets easily angered by the slightest comment, easily distracted, narcissistic and straight up hypocritical. I just want my friend back and I've told him I'm not so happy with his coke use but he then he always deflects the issue and tells me how I shouldn't smoke weed.. which isn't nearly as dangerous as coke. The thing is, addiction is something that the addict has to go through and no matter what I tell him, he's going to have to learn for himself. I just hope he doesn't learn the hard way and that god is good to him. He's always been a good soul, I just don't know much of 'him' truly remains anymore 😔

thanks for sharing, a friend of mine exhibits mood swings and extreme displays of anger at the smallest thing. such as how i expressed concern about his cognitive function due to how repetitive he is with telling me the same stories everytime we communicated, as if he was telling me those same stories for the 1st time. could you maybe offer an example of the kind of things that trigger your friends anger for a comparison ? seems like your friend is lucky to have you on his side. GOODLUCK !
@novaparadoxx9043
Жыл бұрын
@@homebrandrules Your friend may or may not be on cocaine but if you have a gut feeling that he is using you may be right unfortunately. If my friend hadn't openly said he was snorting I would've still suspected that he was using just judging by his actions. I've known a lot of drug addicts, coke addicts in particular and one thing they all have in common is they always feel the need to control the conversation. They may ask you a question only for them to answer it themselves because they just want to hear themselves talk. One incident that got my friend angry was when I was talking about my current circumstances, being out of work ect. I wasn't dumping my problems onto him but simply catching up with him about my life saying it is what it is. He gave me some advice saying I should find a job ect, in which I listened to but didn't agree with because I know that I'll be moving my town shortly. He then boasts saying that he is influential and that he can change anyone's life because he is a salesman. I replied saying that may be true but I'm personally a very stubborn guy and no one can shift my mind. He then bursts with rage saying that 'you should change your own f#ckjng life then instead of asking me for help.' He then calmed down in a split-second, apologizing saying he has anger issues. I was kinda freaked out and confused, firstly because he's never gotten that angry over something that silly and secondly because I never even asked him for help, I was simply telling him about what I was going through. I'm fully aware I'm responsible for my own life. So, in summary if your friend gets violently angry in an instance for the smallest issue, only to go back to normal like it never happened. Chances are your friend either has extreme bipolar or is suffering from a drug addiction. If your friend is also experiencing memory loss and is constantly repeating himself then it could also be alcohol, as alcoholics have a tendency to be quite repetitive. If I was you, I'd ask him about it one of these days. Bring it up subtly. 'Hey buddy why do you keep telling me the same stories, is everything ok?' He may be completely unaware of it himself but if he gets angry when you ask him, it may be the drugs talking through him. It's going to be a rocky road but definitely be honest about your concern for him. Tell him you're not happy with him taking it. Tell him it makes, you and others around him sad to see him like this. All in all, just be friend and try to offer solutions like retreats and therapy. Most addicts want help, but often they're just too ashamed and afraid to ask for it. A lot of addicts are also surrounded by other addicts as well, so it's important to be honest to him because his addict friends will never tell him to stop. Misery loves company. I know this comment is long af lol but I hope it helps to see the signs. You seem like a good friend he is lucky to have also. His behavior clearly concerns you enough to watch this video and to reply to my comment so good luck to you also and I hope that your friend recovers. Regards, Rain.

I started an essential job at a lq store when right as the pandemic hit. I'm a musician and it put me out of my touring work, so I started this job to maintain. Well, working at a lq store can expose you to alot of things l, especially drugs. Music lifestyle too, so I was no stranger to booze, and coke. But usually on occasion or on tour here and there. I was also out of a 5 year breakup that was very toxic, so I had some coping issues there. Fast forward abit and I had developed a 3 year coke and alcohol addiction. I was thinner than usual, barely ate,on the break of psychosis, and in a bad place. I ate some mushrooms one night, and had an epiphany, and just never went back to that job the next day, stopped doing coke and made it two weeks, when I was hanging with my old coworker, while I was heavily intoxicated, and I relapsed and dig like 2 fat rails. Was up all night, and had to celebrate my mom's birthday strug out and continuing to drink. Stopped hanging with that coworker, we were close, but it was bad for my health. Dropped coke again, kept drinking. Lashed out at someone I cared about, and Dropped booze the next day. Hit a meeting, and now I'm 5 months clean of alcohol, and cocaine. It's the best thing I've done, and I highly recommend it.

Really good video Eric, very informative. I agree with basically everything you said. Addiction is a bitch, and we have to live with managing it the rest of our lives. I am a former heroin and crack/cocaine addict. And let me tell you, that SHIT is expensive! Over a period of 16 months, I wasted away about $14k to that junk. Honestly, we need to look at ourselves, and find out why we were self medicating in the first place. Drugs were not the problem for me, I myself was the problem. I was my own worst enemy for sure. To the grace of God, I have been clean off heroin and cocaine/crack over two months now! I am prescribed Suboxone and Adderall XR, which are a godsend. I don't crave or want to go back to my old shitty lifestyle. Full steam ahead on the recovery train. :)

I would never go out looking for it or for dealers, but my weakness was, going into a Pub and bumping into someone I knew who dealt in it, and if I had the money (knowing I needed that money for food and bills etc) I would get it. It was like an impulse thing. When I realised what I was doing to myself and my life, not wanting to be like it anymore, and especially with the 'come downs' I stopped going to this particular pub, this removing temptation. This gave me the chance to look deep into myself and what I wanted. I wanted to feel secure and not skint anymore.

I was a coke addict in my early 20s had a huge traumatic event take place became suicidal ended up on heroin and moved quickly from snorting coke to smoking crack and shooting up speedballs (heroin + coke) let me say as a person who’s felt heroin addiction, coke addiction is no joke and to me it’s almost worse the fact that it has few physical withdrawals compared with heroin or opiates is the only thing that depresses the 2 in my mind anyway. But I seen crack take everything and then some more, I still know people who are out there everyday chasing rock after rock after rock and I’m only a few days clean of coke and that’s only because I’m flat broke. The drug took so much from me and it still will take more. I’m actually sick of it and before to me I denied it beeing a problem because I wasn’t dope sick of it but it really has taken so much from me and I’m still on a program and alternative to heroin so I’m still going thru opiate withdrawals daily. Il say coke especially crack is up there with heroin side my side in my experience it will take ur soul just as quick if not 10 times quicker then anything else.. be careful get help if you need it

It is hard to stop someone from their addiction. First they will deny they have a problem. Things will change for them only when they realize that they do have a problem. They will never admit to friends or family because of the shame they feel. If they do reach out for help to you, just be a friend and tell them you understand it is hard but there is a way to start recovery. Maybe volunteer to go to a 12 step meeting with them. They are all on the web for wherever you live. I hope your friend can get turned around it the right direction soon. The longer it goes on, the harder it is to quit. Please, never lend him money until he has had treatment and shows you he has changed. Good luck. I am a on again off again addict. I don’t do coke anymore (used to do it from 16-20) but one of the things I do subconsciously is touch my nose or the area around my face. It’s been like 6 years since I quit doing it regularly and 2 years since I’ve last touched any, but I find myself doing this still till this day

Same...and when I need to sniff from a runny nose instead of just sniffing I scrunch up one whole side of my face. Can always tell people who do yay by the why they sniff when congested.

Tried it once, the fiendish greed for it really kept me from ever using again. I hate stuff that makes you take more and my reaction to it is that all my inner alarm bells ring and I start getting nauseous even thinking about taking more. Seems like I am lucky.

Not sure if I should consider myself lucky but I was taking all kinds of drugs here and there till early 30s but around when I turned 33 or 34 I realized that it takes whole week to fully recovered and it’s not worth doing it for me anymore so I just stop taking it. Having me said that one thing I don’t mind doing is go to parties and take couple of pills once or twice a year but I haven’t done that either.

Good of you to reach out and accept you have a problem. Biggest tip I can give is to tell everybody close to you EVERYTHING. Tell them you're an addict. It helps immediately and gives you support. People can hold you accountable too. Once you've done that, you can start to pinpoint the triggers, distractions and fight against it. For me, alcohol was a huge trigger, so I got sober from drink for good and that's had a huge positive impact on my battle against cocaine. You can do this, each day that goes by is a positive. Reach out people

Most of these signs apply to ketamine too, been seeing a lot of people in their 20s fall victim to it thinking it’s ok because of its properties as an “anti depressant.” Had to cut ties with a few people already partially due to both drugs.

My friend is an alcoholic and cocaine addict. He is literally flushing his life down the toilet and he knows it which is utterly sad. There is nothing I can say or do to help him as he tells me he loves what he is doing, as you mentioned he has lost loads of weight, everyone comments that he is a skeleton. What a sad life.

Sorry to hear that… I have a friend like that whom I’ve distanced myself from over the years because that’s just it, it’s been over 10 years now he’s been addicted to meth and pretty much whatever he can get his hands on. But he doesn’t have bad teeth or sores or any visible signs even still. Last time I saw him he went through another 3 month stint in rehab only to come right out and THAT DAY hoping to see a better him but he was already high. We had plans to go cookout at our other buddies place and even though I wanted to drive off I decided to be that good friend and take him along anyway (after I called our buddy and asked if it was ok) so we went but he whips the pipe out right in front of me and starts smoking without even asking if it’s ok lol. He basically believes it truly helps him deep down and so the moral of all this is, you can’t help someone that don’t want help… it’s sad but I’ve had my stints with things but always knew I wanted more and honestly didn’t ever like who I became after doing drugs like Coke, Meth, pills, even alcohol… it’s all poison. I hope your friend snaps out of it someday, sooner rather than later. ✌🏼🤙🏼🙏🏼

The signs you point out can also be signs of someone on meth, the boost of confidence and mood also definitely describes the high of meth. In fact thats why I preferred meth over coke, because it was much cheaper yet also more powerful. Even regular amphetamine feels very similar to cocaine in my opinion.
@sarpsays
Жыл бұрын
Imo, regular amp is BETTER than cocaine. Coke blows, that's probably why it's called blow. It's so short, too empty and "heady" compared to amps, and then the comedown is like suicidally bad, compared to amps which is more like extreme lethargy. And it's expensive for all that.

My friend is having alcohol and cocaine issues. Me and another friend will talk to him about how his choices are causing him to act different and not himself. He’s been using cocaine much more often and drinking all hours of the day. How should we go about this conversation?

Be gentle. Understanding. Which imo sounds like you are a REALLY great friend!!! Kudos to you. Let him know that people are starting to notice/ask questions and are concerned about their well being. My sister did for me, which inherently landed me in the Looney bin. Now I have my own apartment, great job and a good studio/good life! You might have to make a decision for them, and they may very well hate you for it. But, in the long run, one of two things can happen. They'll thank you, or they'll keep using. It's ultimately their choice, but don't be afraid to be a catalyst of change for someone else's betterment. ❤️333❤️
