Incessant rains and landslides in Sikkim stranded over 1,200 tourists in Mangan district. Efforts to evacuate them began after airlift attempts failed, with 150 tourists rescued from Chungthang and 200 from Lachung to Chungthang. Flash floods severed road connectivity in Chungthang, prompting the Indian Army to construct a 200 ft steel bridge in five days. Nine fatalities were reported due to landslides, with widespread damage to homes, infrastructure, and communication lines.
