Silchar Airport History:
The history of Silchar Airport can be traced back to the time British ruled India. It is supposed to have been constructed and developed by British during World War II, in the state of Assam in India. The airport is located at the foothills of Barail mountain ranges. The Silchar airport is situated at an elevation of 338 feet above the sea level. It covers the land area of 36.70 Acres. The Silchar airport is considered to be the fourth busiest airport in the entire North east India following those of Guwahati, Agartala and Imphal. The airport comes under the administrative control of the Airport Authority of India and is being modernized. Air India, Jet Airways, IndiGo, and Air India Regional etc., are some of the airlines which have regular flights operating to and from the Silchar Airport to different Indian cities. Approximately 32 flights per week depart from the Silchar Airport for cities like Imphal, Guwahati, Kolkata and Agartala.

Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport(CCU) is situated in Dum Dum, West Bengal, which serves the metro city of Kolkata. It was earlier known as Dum Dum Airport before it was named after the great Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose in 1995,who was one of the greatest leaders of the Indian independence movement whose 125th Birth anniversary will be celebrated soon on 23rd Jan 2021. The airport serves as a major center for flights to Northeast India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, Southeast Asia and the Middle East Asian cities of Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Doha.
