Thanks! They're still holding up well this season. I have the newest double steps on pre-order and they'll probably get the same silent treatment

Nice work. I’ve got mine stealth stripped on certain portions and they can still be loud. I’m going to give this a try.

I've been really happy with it. I hope it works out for you as well. Anything is better than metal on metal.

@@SunburntSportsman I ordered a can of Black, Green, and Brown tonight. Hoping I can camo it with the bed liner and skip the spray paint.

It’s been a few months since this video.. how’s the spray sticking to the sticks? Last thing I want is to do this and have it peeling off?
@SunburntSportsman
Жыл бұрын
It's holding up well. Like a truck bedliner. No peeling or flaking. Took them out the other day scouting some new spots.

This is a great idea. Will this stick to already painted sticks?
@SunburntSportsman
Жыл бұрын
It should stick but I'd probably give the painted sticks a light sanding and alcohol wipe to promote better adhesion.

did you have a problem installing aiders after painting the steps? was wondering if the raptor liner got into the threads
@SunburntSportsman
Жыл бұрын
I threaded all the hardware into the climbing sticks before spraying so none of it was able to get into the threads. If I hadn't done that I would've definitely covered the threads because it would probably gum them up.

? Did you make the follow up video with the fluorescent paint on the sticks? Can’t seem to find it. Thanks.

I didn't end up doing the reflective paint. While coats were drying I was testing it out on other materials and it ended up not working as well as I'd hoped.

Are these slick when wet?
@SunburntSportsman

I haven't had any issues with them getting slick. They're like a truck bedliner texture. No issues going up or down the tree in the rain either.

still sounds like metal to me. stealth strips are the best way possible. this isnt silent at all.

Does the liner squeak when wearing rubber boots if your boots are a bit wet?

I really dig this idea! Do you think you’d get similar results using something like 3M’s rubberized undercoating spray? I have no experience using sprays like that. I do know the 3M spray and others like it are a good bit cheaper and more readily available without ordering online. TIA!
@SunburntSportsman

@@smokinshuttermedia3361 I'd imagine something like that would work as long as the coat was thick enough to damper the metal on metal.

Another question. After you spayed your equipment an painted them how long did it take for the oder to wear off before hunting?Just wondering if i should wait till after season or not. Thanks again for your help!!

No worries, I went out of town for a weekend and left them in the garage to cure. They had some odor after a few days. Then I left them out in the Sun for a couple days and that seemed to do the trick. So probably 4-5 days.
@SunburntSportsman

Oh, forgot to add I spray painted them after a few days too so that added to the odor too
