I lost it when you dropped the elbow on Patrick Bateman. It's the most accurate description and review of that book/movie ever.
@RiP_essiebee
9 ай бұрын
Frrr, I didn’t know how to describe it when I first watched the movie, and all my film bros were bashing me for not liking it. Then I realized it was because it was a story that I like, saw every day, and they thought it was evolutionary? Would drop an elbow on the book as well.
@lumenx7499
9 ай бұрын
@@RiP_essiebee Well, the book was pretty revolutionary for its time. It was a diatribe against something like yankee(can’t remember the name) culture- eg. Rich men culture of the time. Everyone eats, looks, and acts the same. Patrick tries to break out of his inferiority complex and lack of personhood by killing people. He does not succeed as he completely lacks either a personality or looks to distinguish him from his coworkers. Any person who can distinguish him is pushed away or disdained eg. The man who likes him, or his secretary. (The only people who would actually appreciate him are a woman and a gay man, something he disdains and thinks as less than himself.) Leading to only furthering his loneliness and isolation. Patrick wants someone who can see who he is, see him as a person, but he fails to realize that there is no person there, only an idea/ or more accurately, only a bunch of homogenized actions and ideas. The book itself is a great satire of yankee culture, and the snobbery and foolishness of the upper class- eg. Card scene. But many people, especially the young men who worship it, fail to realize the movie is actually speaking against their own ideals and beliefs lol.
