Hi I noticed you used a primer on the bricks presumably this is for a key and to even up suction and do you have to use a primer on all block and brick substrates? Can you also spray that base coat rather than hand apply and just flatten off?

Hi lads Iv got a project in Greece I’m a spread over 40 years the property is very similar as in the original render is absolutely solid , just needs patching up in the odd places , I presume I would have to use the same step by step method as youv done here ? As the client was asking coukd I not. Just patch up , prime , ree beed then apply the finish 1 half mill coat ?

The notch trowel not needed,the better the mesh and base coat the better the finish will be,the primer is key ,and tinted To the finish colour

Totally disagree this is how we were taught to do it when we did the course and it works for us and we get a great finish

the speedskim finish on the basecoat, is it enough key for the topcoat? good job btw. I done some k rending years ago in London, been out of the loop for a while but got my first silicon job coming up

Yes the speedskim does the job just get it as flat and smooth as possible cause if you don’t it will show when finish is put on, hope all goes well for you

After the base coat sets what happens if it rains and the base coat gets all wet. Will it be ok once the base coat dries back up. Many thanks.

The base coat will usually get hard enough that it won’t effect it but as a rule when doing any outside work like rendering or bricklaying etc always check the weather and be a 100% sure that it’s going to be dry.

Do you sponge your basecoat to remove spatula lines once ruled flat?
@worklife4221
Жыл бұрын
Yes you can go over it with a flat sponge float refina do a good one just make sure it’s the right consistency before sponging it shouldn’t be to wet.

What sort of time are you finding to sponge?
@worklife4221

@@DanielWilkinson-uk5wo it all depends on temperature so basically if you can poke your finger into it then it’s to wet

Just one coat of the base coat and then the mesh and use the notched trowel to bed the mesh in and then flatten, also use more render to fill any low spots when flattening

The owner is an idiot if you put lights directly onto a wall like that it’s always going to show and we told him this from the start we told him that the existing wall would have to be flattened but he wouldn’t pay for it
