Hehe GC's that charge back. Why most Mechanical masters do their own contracts. It's called an eletrical permit. Nec 2021 edition baby. Next year when it takes affect you have to have an eletrical permit after $250 by a Master electrician. So it would be his job on eletrical side. Sure you can fire him for sloppiness and be forced to payout the voided contract. Then hire a new one. Ask the current Master to relinquish his permit or direct contact with the homeowner. Enjoy the charge back on sparkys while you can. Another reason a licensed eletrician can pick and choose jobs. I had a GC try that once. After voided my contact, paying me in full, called me back to repull permit and finish. Payed 2x. Your obviously a volume builder. Good luck next year, then get charged by the hour an eletrician wage to clean up. 🤣😀 almost all sparkys let the $10 an hour help clean up the GC has on staff. I'm wondering after your comments how you get eletrical permits and inspections as a GC? What state are you in? Texas? Your subs are not speciality licensed which is voided next year right?

My dad was a superintendent, and he would always make me keep track of the time that I spent cleaning up behind the trades, and then he would charge them back. The funny thing is, he would tell them about this up front, it was in the contract, and he would regularly remind them to clean up after themselves, but some of them just had this attitude that they were too good to pick up their own trash. One of them started talking shit to me one day, not knowing my dad was the boss. My dad told him he could clean up the whole job site by himself that day, or he could have his contract canceled. That was fun to sit there and watch that smug bastard pick up garbage.

I always clean up when I'm done for the day. On another note the one thing that I hate the most is when the drywallers would use a rotozip to cut out the boxes, they would end up cutting my wires no matter how far I stuffed them in the box.
@chriswithrow3107
2 жыл бұрын
It definitely depends on the drywall hanging crew but I feel your pain. I have alleviated most of this by using the deepest box I can in any given situation, assuming you are installing a new box as opposed to a remodel where the box is staying in place for some reason. Carlon 22.5 cubic inch blue box is the business!

I used to install insulation for a construction company years ago and the company was actually next door to a scrap yard. I used to fill trash bags with all the copper wire the electricians would leave behind and throw away. It was a nice little chunk of side cash each week.

My dad is a fire alarm tech and constantly works with wires for low voltage and high voltage. I worked with him for a year pre covid and something he always made sure the crew did was pick up the mess and clean up after ourselves. It was always a pain to do but really makes you do less work overall. Clients always enjoy this too surprise surprise. I'm glad he drilled this into the work crew

As a residential wireman, we work over boxes such that it catches our mess. On bigger jobs, some guys put their box on a flat dolly (not a hand truck), or a cart if they're not doing recepts. (ie journeyman who have apprentices for that...) It makes for minimual clean up.
