When you rely on the constant current mode to limit the current, you cannot use that inline fuse method to protect your crop. That means paying extra attention to the crystal growth to prevent that issue. Definitely need a shallower anode basket, but that means the electrolyte level will be even more critical. I wouldn't worry too much with stainless sreetips. If anything it might freeze and clog but you could hit it with the map torch to unclog it. Map shouldn't get hot enough to melt a stainless screen. Of course if finer shot would be a benefit to begin with.

Some thoughts for silver cell improvement: 1. Water and salt resistant strip around the inside top (say 2"/50mm) but fill to a level near the top as before - this would allow the electrolyte level to go down without exposing the silver crystals plating out on the exposed stainless steel lower down, and, this also makes a longer path for the silver crystal to grow before there is a risk of shorting 2. silver plate the copper wire that sticks out of the river electrode - this could help reduce the bimetallic corrosion that eats away at the copper wire causing resistance increase and eventual failure 3. even bigger stainless steel pot - suggest using a "stock pot" style so you get a lot more depth for the given diameter, and it has a full flat bottom for added stability (again this allows for a bit more distance between the crystals and the shot basket (I agree the hemisphere is the more perfect geometry but the electrons will still find a way) As for gold versus money I always remind myself that gold value is mostly convention - it is pretty, but there is not a lot of demand for this metal outside wealth hoarding. If you need to make stuff to survive then gold is the last metal you want to have hoarded and anybody you want to trade with will have the same perception. In the meantime, gold can be a hedge against uncertain times in a basically civilised world.

Once you understand this concept, then things make much more sense; gold and silver are money. Paper dollars are a money substitute and require third-party validation. Take away the third party and they go to zero. Not so with gold and silver, they stand in their own.

A little further clarification on my 2nd comment. The manipulation I’m referring to is in the futures market. I don’t believe the US holds enough physical silver to exert this amount of market pressure, but the biggest traders and speculators in the futures markets do. Or rather, they can project the appearance of holding that much. This is accomplished by placing the false sell orders the Chief mentioned. Since they are self regulating and aren’t accountable to anyone outside of their own very small circle, there’s no way to force an unbiased inventory of the actual physical assets they hold. And no one in the government who might be in a position to do so is willing to do so because it would kill too many golden geese and would devastate several industries that require silver to function. It seems fitting to me that the home of the world’s largest commodities market is in the most corrupt city in the world, Chicago.
