I just converted my '99 Silverado to a manual operation, instead of dealing with the actuator. Works fine.

Fixed mine by taking the negative post a loose. Let it sit over night. Hook it up to next day, and works like new. Try that before you spend $$$...

The trick is to make sure climate control is on floor heat only and the actuator is in the middle mark now put the cam gear teeth plate part on with the actuator attached and line up the teeth with the right gear teeth both parts of teeth will line up and apply bottom screw in all the way then put both other 2 screws in just a turn then reach and bend behind the plate and lift up the left arm all the way up and apply pressure to plate and the arm will be in plastic plate slot then tighten the screw then tighten right other screw

Where did you get your replacement what’s the part number , did it come with the arm and the actuator? Mine looks exactly like yours but the one I bought from Oreillys looks different mine is a 2010 Silverado extended cab short bed 1500 6.2

Went down this road with a friend and one of his trucks, the worker that took it apart let everything hit the floor and had no clue how it looked so we had to do so head scratching to figure it out.

I wonder if these things just fall apart it need to be reassembled. I have the same problem and I have a Tech II scanner. I have tried to re-calibrate it twice but that only lasts for a couple days before it is shit again.

It's the mode door actuator.

I just did this in about 45 minutes in pitch dark with little light. It's not as hard as people are making it out to be. The new actuator WILL NOT socket if the main gear socket isn't in the same position as the actuator you took out. Furthermore, if you take yours apart and the gear/guide plate comes out with the actuator, you've messed up. I just did it with a light touch and the plate stayed in place. After desoldering the OEM Actuator DC motor, testing 12v forward and reverse, then verifying the gear set functioned mechanically. However the potentiometer under the green gear was fried on mine. Replaced the whole actuator, no issues whatsoever.

Every help tutorial video has someone who is convinced that their vehicle is the worst vehicle ever made. Dude try to understand that these things happen and this video is here to help you do the (rather simple and inexpensive) repair yourself.

@@sarahdeshay1394 definitely simple. I’ve never had anyone work on any of my vehicles. Just me. But these major issues ( the ones many complain of but you don’t hear about unless you go into groups) are just a little ridiculous. Especially when so many people are dealing with them.
