Try this unique adventure in Silverton Colorado and you'll have memories for a lifetime!
ℹ️ About this Episode:
This is Part 2 of our two part series on Silverton, Colorado. Part 1, we talked about the Million Dollar Highway, Durango Silverton Narrow Gage Railroad, and the famous Mayflower Gold Mill. This time it's all about the back roads and mountain passes.
We rented a Jeep in Silverton so we could explore the mountain roads and visit abandoned gold mines. We weren't disappointed! We spend time at Animas Forks exploring old gold mine buildings and ruins. We also spent a full day traveling the Alpine Loop through some of the most beautiful mountains we have ever seen. We made it over Engineer Pass at a whopping 12,800 feet above sea level, and Cinnamon Pass at 12,640 above sea level before heading back to Silverton for a much needed rest.
We hope you enjoy some of the scenery as we travel the famous Alpine Loop of the San Juan Mountains.
