Silvia’s School opened its doors in 1964 as Silvia’s Kindergarten in Clewiston, Florida. Silvia Aguirre, a young Cuban exile, teacher and mother of three, founded the school; her first student was her namesake daughter.
Aguirre closed the school when she relocated to Miami in 1977, believing her teaching career had come to its natural end. But mother and daughter - the latter now about to graduate with a B.S. in education from Florida International University - quickly recognized a need in their new community for a quality early
learning center; Silvia’s School opened in Hialeah later that year.
Today, Silvia’s School is one of the highest-rated early learning centers in the Quality Counts system, which is operated by the Early Learning Coalition of Miami-Dade/Monroe and funded in collaboration with The Children’s Trust.
Working one-on-one with infants through third-graders and their families, the school’s highly trained staff members consistently address the whole child, an approach and philosophy that provides a solid investment in our children’s futures.
