After thousands of hours in sim racing I was fortunate enough to hop in my first race car and burn 20 laps in Dream Racing's Lamborghini Huracan GT! Originally I was planning to drive their Porsche 911 Cup car but it ended up not being ready so they offered a deal to upgrade to their Super Trofeo which worked out great.
Generally I would say everything I've learned sim racing transferred over well with the biggest difference being the real life factor having no reset button. Normally in the sim I start out pushing the limits too much and then dial it back but here I tried to ease into it and build up my pace and confidence in the car. Last thing I wanted to do was push a corner too hard and have things end up badly such as flat spotting the tires. Overall my 3 sessions went smoothly and really only had 2 small instances of oversteer/wheelspin that were easy to correct.
By the end I was happy with my pace but of course knew there was more in the tank. My instructor Paul, who was fantastic by the way, mentioned the quickest time was a 47.9 set by a Nascar Truck driver in cooler temperatures (was 110 degrees fahrenheit the day I was there) so to be about 2 seconds off a pro felt great.
Overall it was an awesome experience from start to finish and recommend everyone should do it at least once in their life if possible!
