Greg Howie is great guitar player but I don’t think anybody can fill shoes Andy left. Andy’ melodic sensitivity is beyond imagination. I adored all previous Protocol albums but can’t expect anything topping III and II. Thanks for upload.

It's tough coming into an already established group, replacing an iconic musician like Andy, no matter who you are. Even a guitar legend like Greg Howe. As the tour moves on, he'll find his fit here more and more. The new guy is never going to sound like the guy who left, but in actuality, he's not supposed to. I think Greg did a fine job in preserving the essence of the original, while still being Greg Howe.

I have to, sadly, agree with the judgment that Howe can't fill Timmons's shoes. Because he doesn't have Timmons's range - it was the aspect of Timmons that used to front a glam band and could rock your ass off that created Protocol 3's unique drive and tension even in the jazzier numbers. Hard to think of any guitar virtuoso that could match Timmons's ability to work _both_ sides of that street. Jeff Beck. Bret Garsed, maybe. Marc Bonilla?

Well, Greg does his best but Andy Timmons has introduced to Simon Phillips band the best guitar sound and performance. Besides, Andy was the great frontman of the band, full of energy and a unique style. I am very sorry, that he is absent rigth now.

Agree, Mr. Googlewitz, ups, Googlewski :-))) (uh, it's ok, it's not 1939, Poland)...little jokin' , anyway, Andy has that "something", really....of course, they All are killer Rock/Fusion maestros....I mean, guys like Greg, Andy, hope you like Richie Kotzen fusion era, Eric Johnson is unique as well, Brett Garsed, TJ Helmerich, Tony Macalpine etc. IMO, I like a bit more Fusion/Rock guitarists - Gambale, Henderson, late Allan, Bill Connors, Allen Hinds, Mike Miller.... All the best, Mister!!!

words like "Greg does his best" are totally nonsens ... both are word class guitar players and well known in te Guitar World, like all the guys already mentioned here by others. Greg and Andy has very different styles... for Example Greg plays sometimes a little more "outside" like some Jazz Fusion Player do that. Your opinion is your own taste, but has nothing to do with knowledge of art and style in Guitar palying. Sorry. ,

Okay. But I didn't love it .Always hard to compare guitarist. I'd rather hear the latest cd than a song that has Andy written all over it! :(
