hmmm ... HMMM. I've flipped from like to dislike back to like. Why? This was as much TWO interviews as one, because of the way Simone turned the table & asked Lex several questions, which seemed to flumux him somewhat, challenging him to answer HONESTLY & deeply -- the very way he does HIS subjects, so to speak. These two related in a personal way that welcomed we the audience into the mix. I can't say I'd search out such company on a regular basis, and prolly might actually avoid it. Hmmm, maybe, just MAYBE, there's a kind of male vs. female dynamic playing out in my psyche. Perhaps I shall ponder and wonder about such a self-discovery. Perhaps. Meanwhile -- VIVE LA DIFFÉRENCE!

Hi Lex, I could relate completely with what Simone said about her brain tumour and how she coped. I had a schwannoma (acoustic neoromma) removed 18 months ago. I had quite severe symptoms and complications because the tumour started to press on the pons, cerebellum and fourth ventrical, causing paralysis and swallow, speach, and hearing complications. I spent five weeks in hospital and the rehabilitation is still going on. Luckily there was no cognitive damage (although my family might disagree). Thank you for your potcast, I watched most and learned a lot.

Great interview! Lex, you’ve been killing it with your lineup - please have (even) more female badasses on your podcast. Simone is *such* a character - powerful creative spirit with a rad sense of humor. Her Trucla project blew my mind when I first saw it years ago, and made me happy to know that rockstar babes like her exist. Given how far she has come as a creative leader (even with the time gap of healing from the brain tumor), it was good to hear her speak out about having had to mold her personality to “camouflage” within a hardcore male-dominated manufacturing design industry. That’s stressful AF and immensely courageous (and frankly, also often fun) to need to be just enough witty, smart, pretty etc self to be accepted and taken seriously, but not too much of those things + self-deprecating, so not to appear threatening or be sexualized. It’s a mad annoying cage to twist oneself into …just to exist in an environment and try to thrive in it. Major kudos to Simone for rocking it! It was such a relief to hear a female leader describe this tightrope as a struggle she had to grow through. It’s important to talk about, so others don’t feel so alone on a similar path (and oh man, it *is* lonely - we make it look easy, but it’s hard to imagine the strength it takes, dear lads). Simone, thanks for being such a bright light, for talking candidly about your process, and sharing your story.

This was such an inspiring, joyful, and lovely conversation. The part near the end when Simone said how there are a few moments when she can feel that she's doing well enough in life, and Lex giving a compliment filled description of her made her feel that made me nearly tear up. A beautiful conversation amongst two beautiful people. Lex, you are such a wholesome being. You, and these people you have conversations with, never fail to bring a smile to my face. You have such an unfiltered honesty through which you try to see the world, and yet an unwavering optimism and a belief in the good in nature and in people. In the paradoxically characterized earth of both ugliness and beauty, like the paradoxes from the conversation with Edward Frenkel, you to me, Lex, are one of the forces and representatives of beauty. I'm grateful that I get to be filled by your light and life when my own is filled with darkness. Thank you for sharing your gift and your love to the rest of the world, even though I know it may be hard at times; and I hope you continue on this path of spreading your joy for life.

Then she tosses in casually that she edited for the Swedish government, spent a year teaching English in China, spent a year in Kenya, was an MMA reporter, is a boss inventor, is an entrepreneurial maker, is a martial artist, while losing almost two years to a brain tumor but is still only 32 is amazing. Thank you Lex, this episode is one of your best podcasts. I happen to be bringing a product to market with a small KZitem channel too, and it's mind blowing how difficult production is compared to prototyping. Simone hit the nail on the head with this wisdom, and more inventors need to learn just how difficult the road to production is before spending their money on that provisional patent (or even patenting at all). I've learned to pare down to the MVP (minimally viable product) at a maximum level of performance, try to do a soft launch, rely on safe harbor and prior art IP, get feedback from users, navigate the FCC and UL, etc., self-fund, all while having this ultra non-influencer, non-host, non-expert, non-photogenic self that I shamelessly throw out there for videos. Icing on the cake is doing this all from the rust belt brain-drained manufacturing city of Mentor, Ohio. But I push onward, relentlessly.

It's kinda crazy to think Simone gets f.o.m.o when she's lived a hundred lives before her third decade, she's had such an adventurous life she could write a trilogy of trilogies of autobiographies just describing each decade of her life. I really enjoyed this episode, It's like the podcast version of avengers assemble for robot creators.

I really wish there were more people with Simone's mindset. I might be a bit biased since I'm a huge fan of hers. 🙂

As an engineer, I can say that my perspective and relationship with my career became much smoother and funniest after following Simone's journey. Undoubtedly a source of inspiration not only for me, but for so many.

Didn't she help get a couple models fired because she didn't like some calendar they were in? What's to like about that?

Lex, consider uploading in 4k to future proof your content. I usually don't notice but I'm on my self medication right now. Gotta go, everything is melting

I'm childishly hyped by Simone having the same red travel mug as I have. I thought I'm too old for being this kind of a fan.

Lex, what a fun interview. I think you'd have such a great conversation with Adam Savage (from Mythbusters).. He's got a great maker channel on YT and loves to dig into the philosophical side of creation. Cheers.
