I have had too many problems from dowels being slightly off angle to chance something like this, so I will probably stick to something like your other jig.

Admittedly, this design, unless improved at the joint, is less reliable than the other jig. Looking back, I would have made a few smaller finger joints now (cut on table saw) to make the joint more stable.

can a jig be like this be made for half inch cedar - I have nice 1/2 in select cedar that I want to edge glue. I can edge glue it without dowels but I would like to use dowels giving the glue up a bit more strength and support Great video by the way

Burt, of course! I would recommend to make it a little wider and cut a couple of smaller finger joints on a table saw of the joint. It would improve its stability/precision. Perhaps, making the jig wider, say, for 2 or 3 inserts in a row, so the joint is wider and more stable...

Ha ha, Jorgen.:) Yes, it was a fun project!! I focused too much on the simplicity of making it though. It just needs to be improved at the joint to make it more stable. I think a couple of the smaller finger joints, cut on a table saw, would remedy the stability problem...

why not just use two hinges.glue wood in between and push the bushing in through the hinges and the ply.
@crazyrussianwoodshop3957

Yes, it would work! As long as the hinge is centered. Thanks for the idea!

@H4rleyBoy

Good idea, but unlike most of your stuff, the hinge makes it look very sloppy, so alignment isn't spot on.
@crazyrussianwoodshop3957

Yes, Kevin, you spot on! I was not totally happy with it. I should have made a couple small finger joints on the table saw instead of focusing on the simplicity of production...(
