Chris, Ubiquiti is now recommending not using the PtP settings, even for PtP installations (like mine). The are now recommending using PtMP AirMAX Mixed, then setting the TDD Framing Duration to Flexible (New). This is supposed to alleviate some of the CPU bottlenecks, although I'm seeing only slightly better CPU and bandwidth performance in real life. If you have a contact you trust at Ubiquiti, it would be beneficial to all of us to know why these new settings, in detail, are now recommended over PtP. And sure, a detailed UNMS would be nice, although for my little install, just going to the web interface is sufficient for my needs.

The ESP is not for a lightening strike. It's for static electricity in the "air". So strong electromagnetic fields and "static" potential energy on your roof during a storm. If lightening discharged through your wireless bridge and followed down into your cables, than the ESP protection will get blown to bits and the lightening would continue downwards. The siliest mistake I see is people Earthing a metal roof, which increases static energy and increases the chance of a capacitive discharge (lightening strike). Anyway great vid, btw.

I am very frustrated right now... i'm hoping you could give a tip to send in the right direction. I have the 2 nanobeams connected and everything looks good. I can ping the nanobeams from the local side no problem. However i can't ping the switch on the remote side, and i cant ping the uap 150 on the remote side. If i connect an ethernet cable between the two switches (local / remote) then i can ping all. Obviously this negates the wireless bridge. Thoughts? Thanks in advance!

I've setup a OOB Network for my internal DC Network guy with one LiteAP 120° (on a huge tv tower) and put PowerBeams on the 30km distance, LiteBeam (aka salat bowl) for the 3-15km endpoints and also NanoStations Loco for testing. But in the CIty the NanoBeam were not Useable, because get hit by to much backround noise at the Station sites and the LiteBeam is half the price. It's all a Broadcast domain for running OSPF in case of a Fibercut. (as DC Provider our carriers had multible ways into the campus, but sometimes two cable search devices from cat find a cable) All of my routers are ER-X or ER-X-SFP and runns fine. Even if the Firmware failes doing upgrade on the MX960's, my network guys still could get into console. (They were rofl away, as they heard the price of my setup and call it "toys", but it saved their ass) So we mostly only use them for OOB access and backup way for Monitoring of your DWDM and connectivity platform

Because these setups are so inexpensive we normally keep a whole paired kit as spares at any site we have done PTP. $225 or so for a spare kit is cheap insurance at the customer's data room. Chris, I help out running a swim club where we have the ISP entering the back of the facility in a shed. Rather than digging a ditch, I assume this will work best to go straight from the modem and bridge wirelessly to a Dream Machine Pro? I want to keep the DMP and all other equipment including Ubiquiti Access Control in the front office, but it would cost us thousands to trench for the cable company to provide internet up there. Off the DMP, I am running Omada EAPs that I already had with a separate VLAN for the members, etc. Can you confirm this system will be best solution to cover directly from the modem to the DMP to get internet to the front?

Ok, based on the diagram, the IP address of the main LAN is basically copied as the Gateway (ending with 1 instead of 0). My setup has its access point directly connected to the modem of the ISP. I need to figure out the IP address of that connection so the internet goes through to the Station? When I set the antennas as a demo in my house, there was no need to do that, I successfully shared the internet connection between the two, now there is no internet. What should I do? Also, whenever I try to enter the AccessPoint’s IP address to change its settings remotely, it still brings me to the Station’s settings.

My router is connected to the Management port. On port 1 is my PC, on port 2 is a Nano Station Loco 5AC (AP PTP), on port 3 I have a Cloud Key Gen2+ . Then on port 4 is a UVC G3 Flex, on ports 5 & 6 are 2 x UVC G3 Pros My question is why can I not get the G3 Pro cameras to negotiate 100Mbps FDX as they will only connect at 10Mbps. The UVC G3 Flex connects fine at 100Mbps. Is there any reason why the wont connect at a higher speed? All the cabling is the same spec CAT6 and the lengths to all three camera locations is similar (around 15 metres) Also I have a Nano Station 5AC (ST PTP) that I will be mounting on my garage that will connect to the previously mentioned AP PTP on the house. I also have an AirCube AC, an EdgeSwitch 5XP and two more Ubiquiti cameras that will be in the garage. What is the best way to wire these up in terms of the AirCube AC and the switch in terms of supplying POE to the ST PTP and will Unifi Protect allow me to manage these two additional cameras via the 5XP switch in the garage and the wireless bridge? Great video, only question is does it matter which of the two Nanobeams is AP and which is station? I'm trying to beam my connection from home office to my shed, roughly 100 meters away (living on 3 acres). Ethernet/fiber isn't an option as the county regs here prevent running any type of cable underneath a driveway (driveway in the way).

Very great and clear video! I'm wondering how's that compared to NanoStation? If I remember correctly you did similar network configuration with NanoStation
