Thank you Nathan! This has helped me so much. I've been struggling with the "blend if" method which doesn't always do a very good job of selecting trees. From now on this is my go-to method for sky swaps.

Your tutorials are awesome!!! Just one thing I noticed on your videos. You don't have to flatten the image and you don't have to save it as PSD. Once you save the image, Photoshop will automatically save it as PSD in the same folder where the original image is located, and send it to light room (no need to flatten). If for some reason you need to do further editing on that image in Photoshop, on light room you just click on edit in Photoshop and when prompted just select edit original, and it will open that PSD back in Photoshop

Yep, and if you have a peta byte drive, then no problem ;) It's a matter of saving disk space. When you're shooting 10 houses a week this adds up, and for MLS work, there's little need to save the work for later. For designer work though I tend to save as PSDs.

What is the best way to sky swap when you have a lot of trees? Thank you for the great tutorials!! I need to feel more comfortable with PS. Do you have any of your technique on a preset that I could down load or set up my self? THANK YOU AGAIN!!

Same technique, just be careful on how far you set the fuzzy slider in select color, and make sure to use no more than 95% fill on the swap layer to allow better blending.

Hey, watched a couple of your videos and keep wondering why you're using the eraser-tool instead of converting your brush to white when you're working on a mask.

I have most of the presets I use in my books, in particular, the Advanced Editing book not only lists a variety of presets, but also shows how to make them. The exteriors book has a variety of presets as well. See: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0791GL8RD?ref=series_rw_dp_labf

Unfortunately I'd have to see what you're doing, but there are three options though: 1. There is a newer tutorial you can try here: kzitem.info/news/bejne/q5yOz62jaamrhYI 2. I cover this in detail in the advanced editing book with step by step instructions with screen shots, here www.amazon.com/dp/B0779PCVWC 3. Worst case, if all else fails, I also offer remote 1-one-training. You can contact me at nathan@nathancoolphoto.com for information on that.

Hi Nathan! Thanks for the tutorial. Question: When I use the gradient tool as instructed, I only appear to be able to "blue" the sky around my gradient line. In this video, it appears the entire sky pops in to place. What could I be doing wrong?
@NathanCoolPhoto

Not sure what you are doing, but there's another way to do this that I show in the advanced editing book, which has step-by-step instructions: www.amazon.com/dp/B0779PCVWC
