Good educational video Kevin 👍Unfortunately still a lot of people are most fixated on springer airgun's power and fancy words on boxes while precision and build quality are the most important. I tried once the powerful Titan XS springs in some if my HW's and they became noisy and difficult to shoot, especially in .177 cal less accurate. If i,m not able to shoot half inch groups on 30 yards on a day with no wind with my springers i'm not satisfied. Your HW50 is now a dream to shoot with and a perfect hunter...😁Cheers my friend!

Kevin, the rifle certainly does sound better just a muted thud like a tuned rifle. It's always been in my experience when tuning air rifles is more art than an exact science and altering something in direction often changes something in another. Everything we do is the result of a compromise. As you know spring piston air rifles are very complex in their operation and it is very satisfying when things turn out for the better. You have clearly transformed your HW30S into a smooth shooter! Many thanks for another great presentation.

Morning, Kevin... Whether too much tar or too little, tuning a Springer is an individual process ! 🤷🏼♂️ All Springers have their own issues, and idiosyncrasies, and All "Springer Shooters" have their own individual Expectations for "Their" rifle. Some of us can strip a rifle in minutes, so it certainly wouldn't break my heart to crack it open again and clean it out and readjust the works... 😁👍 Lots of folks are sketchy about Heavy Tar, and that's a shame, as it's a very useful tool on any Springer enthusiasts work bench. 😕 To be clear not all tars are the same. 🤷🏼♂️ That's why I stock ARH Lubricants ! 😊 Air Rifle Headquarters only sells Reputable & Reliable goods made specifically for "Springers" ! 😁👍

High Kevin, nice job, I dont subscribe to the less is best principal when it comes to greasing guns, there are a few that do better that way but not too many. There are guns where more is the law in particular here in the UK. couple of points if you bond some rubber to the top of your stand off block it provides a little extra grip when twisting the action. And the removable plug if you have a lathe use the plug to pattern a new plug with the spring guide incorporated. It could be in several materials , delrin steel brass bronze or stainless I suppose you could use cast or wrought iron , material selection can make a sizeable difference to performance. Getting back to grease, should you find that a liberal dose of grease necessary adding preload washers should return the speed, Some guns come highly sprung and suffer as a consequence and injecting heavy tar to tame their kick can save stripping a gun , however in that instance it might be better to shorten the spring and use less grease. On a different subject two diana 34's and a webley eclipse that I purchased at auction some months ago finally turned up on Monday I think all three guns probably came from the same collection as it became obvious that non of them had been used for a number of years all three puffed smoke like an old steam train and were well down on power, but all three came back on song with a little use just goes to show they all need to be exercised on a regular basis. Also picked up a Park mk 2 to go with the mk one I purchased new thirty five years ago. and better still got a lovely Air arms Bora at least externally, the spring twang is terrible and will need sorting I think guides top hats and a piston sleeve , hoping the spring OK for a few more years we will see. as a parting thought cast iron is quite strong enough if properly heat treating , quenching and correctly tempering to improve ductile strength. Look at all those gem pattern air rifles many of their parts were cast and so many still going strong . and the cast often of a poor grade on the cheaper guns. Yep I had to get rid of my ex to does not do to put up with their rubbish behavior it just encourages them. Best bit is I never get nagged about my gun collection, well almost I do have a daughter !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have fun 😉
