This what I wanted - a low roof 136! I'm short also and only have a dog with me. I have been blown off a highway before and very sensitive to wind blasts. Didn't know the only thing holding me back would be to give up ceiling insulation...I could get that done at home.
@DoggyU
3 жыл бұрын
Yes for sure - if I had found that it was drastically effecting the heating/cooling efficiency of the van, I would have insulated the ceiling, but honestly, it was never an issue. Happy travels!

@Maelynn Eve... At the 8:24 time stamp you'll see she's wearing shoes with a bit of a heal, and at the 9:37 time stamp you'll see that her head is positioned right under one of the roof ribs. I'd say that if she had installed a roof panel of about 1/2inch she'd still have enough standing room.

Such a great share. Thank u Doggy U and Wayfarer Vans! The best takeaway from this video for me is that u can stand in there!!! And I am SO stoked Ian and Wayfarer Vans allow modification to the kit. (Please pass on my comment to Ian?...or I will when I get to that step in my process) Being able to pick the items I need from the kit is a HUGE piece to my being able to move forward from this GMC to a van that I can stand in AND the ability to defer to a company like Ian's to help with all that building stuff that I don't want to do.

Wow.... thank you. I’m just a 4 ft 11inch grandma.... who wants and needs an RV to travel in! I’m sick and tired of over priced dirty hotel rooms that are noisy and just yucky! We are just back from our last 1,500. mile trip and stayed in a well known hotel chain.... the noise from I-95 at night was Unbearable, better cleaning but if you’re a light sleeper, forget ‘bout it for $160.00. a night!!!! The next night same chain, unfortunately was $130.00 but I refuse to sleep on blood stained sheets!!!! Was told we would get a discount.... clerk never to,d the problem with our room so no discount was given!!!! While I am a former hotel employee, did it all from cleaning to desk clerk, even unplugging toilets! I would never ever have placed my guest in such rooms! P.S. was told but the late night clerk that the owners are well aware of the noise problem when you stay in the rooms in the back of the hotel.... (we weren’t given that option). sadly the clerk we interacted with either did’t know that or didn’t really care! Plus we have repeatedly stayed at the first hotel and never had a noise problem! At checkout from the second one, the morning clerk was shocked! But didn’t offer or give us a discount! I’ll never ever stay in that chains hotels ever again! Hubby wonders why I want an van RV!?!?!

I look forward to seeing how it works out for you!
@DoggyU

Hey Audra - that's great! Depending on how many dogs you personally own and how many you'll be transporting, I would also check out the Promaster City as it gets way better gas mileage and can also be a small camper. but if you travel with more than yourself, definitely go with the bigger van. Let me know what you decide! Good luck! :)

Love your info about the 5'4" roof. I'm as tall as you and if I can fit in this roof it is great for me to avoid the height of the van. Yet I'm still thinking about a high roof if I live in it. It is a great point though. Now you make me think.
@DoggyU

Yes I have had both. I love the way the low roof drives and the height is no issues at all for me. the thing you miss out on vs. the high roof is any overhead storage like I had in my last van. The tradeoff is worth it for me though!

Pretty much as-expected for a front wheel drive vehicle. I drove it in the rockies in some blizzards and it handles fine as long as you drive slow and carefully but it wouldn't be my first choice for driving in snow. Unfortunately, 4wd vans are very pricey!

Hello DoggyU. Thank you so much for posting this. I completely understand the downsize from the larger van. Several years ago I had a full class b roadtrek but it was 23 ft long and I never used half the stuff including the shower and it was horrible to drive. So fast forward....I bought a 136wb high top last week so I can take my dog daisy traveling with me. Who is a rescue Australian cattle dog mix (I think with border collie but I'm not sure). She turns 1 next week. I love your setup of dometic and yeti 1000. I'm going to replicate it cause I think it'll suit my needs. I am excited both about van and your training videos. I found you by searching for dogs in vans and saw your old one with crate under bed. Planning on copying that too. Best of luck in CO. Thanks
