There's a private church-run school a couple towns over that also has a 1990s Simplex 4002 system like that (I went there for a model train show last spring), complete with the single-bay panel, but the alarm signals are 2901-9838 horns on 4903-9101 strobe plates, as the system was installed in 1992. My friend's university (in the same town) also had a single-bay 4002 system at their Art Center, except the alarms were 4051+4050-80 horn/lights, along with break-glass 4251-30 pulls (before the 4002, they had a Simplex 4208, with its' cabinet gutted and used for terminal wiring.) But a few years back, the 4002 was replaced with a Simplex 4007ES, and they also removed the 4051 horns and slapped TrueAlert horn/strobes onto the 4050-80 light plates.

This must've been a pretty large office building lol (just guessing from the 4009 IDNAC extender 😜). Nice to see these early to mid-90s mechanical 4903-9215/17/19s (they're all the same lol. just different candela ratings)! (even though they tend to sound like crap from aging or whatever 😆) Great video as always!

I'm pretty sure if they were to install TrueAlerts, it'd be the 4 wire 4903-9425/9426/9427 horn strobes lmao and replacement 4903-9252/9253/9254 horn strobes
@aidanthetoiletelevatorfire7554

These strobes don't seem to pick up that bright on camera, so I'd say these are 4903-9219s and 4904-9137s. The 4904-9135 and 9136 are other models of the 4904.

Hello. I have a question that doesn’t directly relate to this video. Old fire alarm systems outputted AC power instead of DC. This was obviously because old horns used AC power. How do you connect an old AC horn to a DC system? I don’t actually have a system but I was just curious.

Do you have to memorize the Simplex device model numbers for the A/Vs and initiating devices, or is there a way to figure them out otherwise? They seem much more complex than, say, System Sensor's model numbers (I have a few advances) or Wheelocks. I'm thinking of building a fire alarm system and putting some Simplex key stations and A/Vs up. Any suggestions on that?

@@Emmisullivan14 Well the noises are to alert maintenance, management, or whoever is in charge of checking the system that something is going on in the case of this panel rapid beeping means it's in alarm it'll do a short blast when reset and usually when the system has one or more trouble points it'll make a continuous beep. The sound continues until someone acknowledges it and the light flashes red is alarm or supervisory yellow is trouble and green is usually power and system silence.
