Long time games animator here - this is cool! I'd use it for things where either my skills or mocap recordings are lacking to achieve a certain effect or to quickly add realistic secondary motion faster than keyframing it. You still need to know how to animate to get correct timing, posing and spacing so it's not the end of animation by a long shot, just like mocap wasn't. It's just a useful tool.

@@farce2734 Sure, although I started in 2001 so my path won't be relevant to you. There was no KZitem full of tutorials. I owned a copy of 3DS Max and bought a couple of books on 3D animation which were pretty bad and wrong. I did one year of a 3 year 2D animation diploma. I'm basically self taught. These days I'd recommend getting Blender and following along with a bunch of tutorials, starting small, plus you should buy The Animator's Survival Kit and Disney's Illusion Of Life. These will teach you how to really animate, rather than just making something move like a lot of tutorials will do. It's about timing and spacing and so much more. But yeah just start small and eventually you'll figure it out. Everything you do will look like crap but you'll think it's the greatest thing ever so don' t take negative criticism to heart, it's a long journey to get good. I consider myself okayish at best. It's simple but way too many variables are moving to have proper pose to pose motion, you kinda have to move everything but everything is moving and if you lock it it'll have a chance of doing a unwanted bend. Can we stop with the clickbait titles and go back to journalistic integrity please? CGmatter knows it's not the end of animation, the viewers know it's not, everyone knows it's not. It's an amazing tool that will possibly end a ton of grunt work in the animation industry, and possibly trim a few jobs down, but there's too much needed in terms of custom animation that needs to be owned by whatever company commissions it for their IP. Even the amount of manual tweaking needed by a human to make Cascadeur work shows it's far from automated - it just lends a professional eye in terms of correctly weighted movements and automates that small aspect of animation.
