I gave my sister and brother in law cash for their anniversary saying please use to treat yourselves. They enjoyed a great meal out and sent me some pictures 🎉.

My family reacted poorly when I opted out of gift buying. Stuck to my guns and now everyone looks forward to receiving their favorite cookies, which I am more than happy to bake. I'd rather stock up on butter, sugar, and flour than aimlessly wander a store muttering "What do I get for Joey?"

Thank you for being vulnerable about the knee injury and having to slow down! Different situation but helpful to a mom of toddlers who gets impatient!

About the adult son with the stuffing ruining thanksgiving complaint.... I think Miss Manners might have sweetly, diplomatically announced at the table "Oh, wonderful. Our son will be bringing his favorite stuffing next year, and I am sure everyone will find it just delicious! Can't wait!. In fact, this is such a good idea, how about if everyone else here brings just one holiday dish, for us all to enjoy for this one meal? After all, we don't want our son to be the only person bringing his own special dish. "

I absolutely love love love fruitcake, but actually haven't had it for a few years .. Around June I stopped eating sugar = I haven't been sick since, when others around me have. As i get older, not being sick is a big deal. .. This video has caused me to start thinking of holiday alternative treats from my usual holiday baking. .. hmmmm .. date nut cake or apple date nut cake might be a good alternative or something w/pineapple or raisins 🤔 🧐

The gift of time.1. A few of my girlfriends and I pay our own way, for an expensive holiday lunch/brunch at a restaurant, we normally would not treat ourselves to. . (no gifts allowed). A lot of fun for us, is even to choose an expensive restaurant. The gift to each other is sharing our company. And the gift to me. is a meal I would not normally treat myself to. 2. I have always treated my elderly grandmothers, aunts, uncles etc., alone to a holiday lunch at a restaurant , with only me or my husband. They did not want more stuff, at their age, but just wanted some one on one loving company; and a chance to get out of their apartment/elderly home. During these luncheons they often "unload" about their family issues, which was a safe time for them to release emotionally. And I think these prinvate luncheons are the best thing for their spirts and well being.
