" What to do with people who ridicule God's Messages" (Allah ki aayaat ka mazaq udane walon ke saath kya karen)
VERSE 140: And, indeed, He has revealed to you in the Book that whenever you hear people deny God's messages and mock at them, do not sit with them until they take up some other discourse or else, verily, you would be like them; surely God will gather together the hypocrites and the unbelievers all in hell.
EXPLANATORY NOTE: This is a very important guideline which tells us how to react to blasphemy. As in 6/68-69 also, God asks Believers to momentarily dissociate with such people who ridicule God's messages ( Aayaat or verses) or mock at them and join them back once they change topic. That means we should not be a part of such derogatory talks but remain in company of such people. As we are forbidden to abuse those they worship instead of, or other than God (6/108), to always speak that is best (17/53) and to repel evil with good to turn your enemies into your friends (41/34-35), we are insrtucted here also not to loose our cool and to follow the instructions of Quran to keep our cool and maintain the human relationship. This attitude ensures peace as ' offenders' do not pick up a fight, nor even protest for this insulting attitude. This calmness and decorum is bound to be taken note of by all such people and if we remain connected with them and continue to ignore their misadventures ( which may be a provocation also), they would certainly review their attitude as well as our peace ensuring good conduct. They may start serious conversations about their misunderstandings and may turn into real friends. This is Quranic wisdom, which we often ignore in the heat of the moment, under strong satanic provocations arising from our own inner self or under satanic provocations we get from the Quran illiterate people in our communities.
LESSON: If we believe in Quran and follow it, we must never react to any kind of blasphemy nor harbour any animosity for the perpetrator. On all such occasions we must show the strength of our Quran-induced character and maturity to ensure peace and to ensure that we, as Muslims, care least for such acts of hatred towards one another.
