Amen! In my experience, accepting the doctrine of sin actually allows us to be more loving towards others, and think about ourselves less (avoiding both self-hate and self-love), in the proper, Biblical definition of love of course. When you realize that we are all horribly sinful, you stop constantly trying to place people into categories of "good person" and "bad person", and instead evangelize to and express God's love to whoever He puts into your path, regardless of how well they fit into society's definition of "good". Furthermore, when you realize that you are horribly sinful, and that you need the cross, you recognize that you can never be a "good person", and can better spend your time and mental energy trying to be a righteous person who does their best to follow God's law.

This is what they cannot understand, how is that making any sense. Jesus went there for three days, defeated Satan, took keys from Satan to himself and now was able to release souls from there.

@ChristFollower00

@@NodDisciple1 I would be happy to clarify as best I can according to the wisdom God has given me. Non-culpable ignorance is not blameworthy. If you never heard God's commands before, and you had no reasonable way to gain access to them, then you are not blameworthy for failing to follow commands you are ignorant of. Culpable ignorance is when someone has had reasonable access to knowing what is good. Examples are God giving the law, but an Israelite chose not to listen and remember these commands. This person is culpable (blameworthy) for their ignorance and cannot claim their ignorance before the Lord. A modern example is if we are speeding and we inattentively miss the speed limit sign. If we are pulled over, we cannot say to the officer "I did not see the sign", because the sign was available for us to see if we were paying attention, which we ought to be doing on the road. The officer can reply to most claims of ignorance by saying, "you could have, and therefore should have, known better". If we break a law, then we cannot usually claim non-culpable (unblameworthy) ignorance. Why? Because our government has given its civilians reasonable access to the laws both online and at other public places. People may not like it, but people are lazy and choose not to read the laws, I do this too, and so if I or others try to claim ignorance, then it will not apply to us. A person who cannot sufficiently understand the law (kids or mentally disabled) are not blameworthy for their ignorance. Now, God has made everyone with a conscience to give them evidence of general moral truths, and God's creation is evidence that God exists (Romans Chp. 1-2). This means most people are blameworthy for much of their ignorance because the evidence is available to them both through creation to know God exists, and conscience to know morality, but also we know we have failed to always do good, and so we are blameworthy before a holy, just, and loving God. Hopefully that helps some. Feel free to ask more if needed.

Sin is worse than God sending His Son to earth to be crucified so that God will let us into heaven?
@TheNerdiestGeek

Are you aware of the doctrine of the Trinity? It's essentially that God is made up of three persons - the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and they have always existed. Jesus Christ was a member of the trinity long before He became man. Jesus only gained the title the Son once He was born unto Earth. In fact, before God ever put His creation into being, He knew there was a possibility some or all of His creation would rebel (sin), thereby cutting off their own relationship with God. Jesus (who was just the 2nd person of the Godhead at the time), promised that he would bear the brunt of the necessary wrath so that we could be welcomed back into relationship with God. So the end goal is not to just get into heaven, it's to begin a relationship here on earth with our Living God and continue that relationship into eternity once we get to heaven.

@@TheNerdiestGeek so God needed a physical body to die in order to forgive? He came to earth in human form so that the Father part of Him could forgive humans? Why can’t God just forgive?
@TheNerdiestGeek
2 жыл бұрын
@@christopher7725 Yeah! Great questions. Among many other things God is a just God, meaning when wrongs are committed, some sort of penalty must be paid. For Him to just forgive would mean no penalty has to be paid for at all, which is not just. No one here on Earth would ever agree that everyone who murders, steals, rapes, slanders etc should not pay some sort of penalty, usually in the form of prison time or fines. I think there's an inherent sense within us that bad things cannot go unpunished. So, in order for God to forgive, that penalty has to be paid by someone. And the penalty for sin is death. Jesus voluntarily came to earth to be that someone, to die so that each one of us don't have to pay our own penalties. There are a few reasons why Jesus had to come in physical form that I think make sense. First of all, it's not possible for God to die at all as He is, He had to put on a physical form that could die to do that. There's also a good argument I believe that it wouldn't be truly substitutionary unless He was like what he was trying to save. Plus, in order to get His message across, he had to come in a way that we could understand him and listen to him (i.e., can't come as a lamb or other animal). I hope that helps!

@@christopher7725 This isn't explicitly stated in the Bible, but we can infer much from what we know about God. He is the Life Bringer, the Creator of Earth and everything on it and the universe as far out as we can see. He is also the maintainer of life. Since sin separates us from God (he is perfectly holy and therefore he cannot abide with sin), logic then follows that death is the ultimate outcome of being separated from the one who creates and maintains life.

I understand where you're coming from, however, as someone who has suffered deep depression, hopefully I can explain my view of things. I was depressed because I felt completely unworthy of life and there was nothing I could do to change that. I would never be perfect and it was tearing me up inside. However, even though I am not perfect, neither is anyone else, and God has a perfect love for me that no matter what I do, he erroll forgive me again and again. I don't have to strive to be good based on my own standards or even anyone else's standards - I often can't even live up to those standards either. However, every time I feel unworthy, I remember God would love me even if I turned away from Him, so how can I do anything else but love Him with all my heart and try to be better for Him - who will constantly forgive me for my stumbles far more readily and perfectly than any other human in my life could? He is far more reliable and consistent than even my husband. So, when you think about the fact that God loves each one of us beyond what we can imagine despite our sin that is open rebellion against Him, it should be more comforting than hurtful.

First of all, we don't really know the original design of Adam and Eve, so to say he designed us "imperfectly" is hard to know for sure because our design was corrupted after the fall. Second of all, he designed us with free will. In order for there to have been true free will, there had to be a choice. The choice for Adam and Eve was essentially either to trust God or don't trust God. God told them they would surely die if they ate the forbidden fruit, and they did. So, according to you, in order for God to have designed us "perfectly" we would all be sweet, preprogrammed robots who didn't have a choice but to love God and never do anything bad. However, He decided He values our free will more than forced love because He wants us to choose Him, to enter into a willing, loving relationship with Him. You don't have to enter into that relationship with Him, but at the end there's only two choices: heaven - where he resides and will reside forever and ever or hell - the quarantine where he does not reside. And where He does not reside, there is no hope, no love, no compassion, no good. But He won't force you to reside with Him if you don't want to.
