It's interesting because most people rave but SQs product is actually a little outdated. It's very grand and a comfortable space but it lacks some much needed privacy. Also can't believe they didn't opted for a touch screen. Will be interesting as you say the next few years with Cathay on the upgrade, SQ thinking about it to

Just finished a trip where we took SQ round trip in PE from SFO-SIN. My answer as to whether it’s worth it? Honestly, no. In terms of the soft product (service, cuisine), it’s great. In terms of the hard product, for me, it was bad. I’m 6’2” tall and even with the increased seat pitch in PE, I suffered for almost 16 hours on the way to SIN and 15 hours on the return. Is it better than economy? Of course. But I will not be repeating the flight in PE. We have two future trips where we have a combination of points and paid business class tickets. The paid flight was a great deal at $3699 round trip. In the future, if we’re flying PE to SE Asia, we’ll stick with JAL and ANA, both of which have very good PE seats. Plus, the stop in Japan gives us a chance tostretch out for a while before continuing.

@@stevenelson3515 even at 5'9 it can be a struggle. I like sleeping on my side so most non Business class seats are an issue. If your back had more support to make it flatter it might work. Sadly sitting up right is just not ideal for the human body. Do you try and get the exit row where possible?

Apparently there is an extra half inch of width on the A380 otherwise the are apparently the same 38" pitch, 19" width and an 8" recline. Either way enjoy, nice route to travel ✈️

I picked up a SQ premium economy ticket from SFO-SIN for only US$695 for a flight last March on the 350-900ULR. I then spent extra for unlimited legroom in the first row (all the throne seats were taken). I'm 196cm tall, so I really need leg room for flights over 4-5 hours. I found the seats a little shallow and the calf rest to be useless. Also the IFE screen coming up from the seat was a little low. It was almost a 17 hour flight so it was an endurance as I woke up every hour or so. I'm flying to Bangkok in November in EVA's PE. Is it worth twice the price of economy? Not is you are of average or below height. But at my height there isn't really a choice. Two years ago on a flight to Taipei I remember flying EVA's PE and it was fine, but burned into my mind was how miserable some larger passengers looked in economy.

@@pcmacintyre I'm excited for the coming years because Singapore Airlines is currently working on their next business class products. The only one is good but things have come a long way. As for EVA most Premium Economy products are pretty standard just with different colours and design aspects. I'm 5'9 and find most of them pretty comfortable but it's hard to imagine being 196cm. Also depends if your height is more in your legs or torso. Best thing you can do is obviously go for an exit aisle with the extra space. What plane, route or time are you flying so I can try and have a look at some seat maps

@@liftoffandtravel I'm mostly leg so that's a factor. I'm flying from SFO which usually has the 777 with the 3-4-3 configuration in economy. LAX often has the 777s with 3-3-3 in economy and the PE seats with the calf rests. My flights between TPA and BKK are also the 777. I see EVA has started using A330s on that route and discontinued the 787-10s. EVA premium economy tickets don't include lounge access like the Japanese carriers, but if you have at least Silver status in their frequent flyer program you can access EVA lounges with a PE ticket.

@@kencarruthers6714 ultimately when it comes to Premium Economy perhaps the food is better but really you're just paying for the extra room which does make a difference. Agreed. I’ve used premium economy with BA, Virgin and Singapore. Just a bit more space, as you say, but a shame they don’t give a few more perks, like better food in the lounge
