Oh no, did you just "wasted" all the soup in the xiao long baos aka soup dumplings? Usually people eat xiao long baos with chopsticks and spoon. Bite the tip a little to release the steam/heat then suck in the soup in the dumpling or pop the whole thing into your mouth (if it's cool enough for you). Although you should try other food that are considered more localised or from this region at the biggest hawker centre in Singapore. Xiao long baos are from Shanghai :D You can buy local kopi from hawker centres for less than $2.

Hainanese chicken is supposed to be cold due to the ice bath that creates the pleasant gelatinous texture. Asians know what they're doing with food, just trust them.

The chicken is boiled and then shocked in cold water to preserve its tenderness . So u can't have hot chicken.

Singapore was founded by mainly Chinese people, so the culture and food look a lot like China. Of course, it also incorporates the characteristics of Southeast Asia and India.

Sorry. Singapore is an island of the Malay archipelago. The Chinese came along with the Indians and other races only in the 1800s and after. The Chinese now make up the majority of the population (75%) and the Chinese influence is substantial but it cannot be said that Singapore was founded by mainly Chinese people. Indeed the national language remains Malay, not Chinese.
@熊尛雄
Ай бұрын
@@MelvinSimKH yes,so i used "mainly" ,but not“only”。 and i wonder the national language is malay? i remeber that it's english
@MelvinSimKH
Ай бұрын
@@熊尛雄 Perhaps it’s in the phrasing but Singapore wasn’t founded by the Chinese, not even mainly. As the indigenous people of Singapore were Malay, the language was retained as the national language. It was also politically expedient when Singapore was to be part of Malaysia and even after independence. The other official languages are English, Mandarin and Tamil to reflect the historical and cultural mix of the island. English was chosen as the working language, which was a fortunate and inspired choice and also a good one to avoid any racial tensions which would have arisen otherwise.

Where did u have your €4 coffee?? Starbucks or a cafe?? Our local coffee at a foodcourr or coffeeshop is only €`1-2 !! U shdhave tried our Chicken Rice a local dishnat only about €3-4 only. U could have had a full meal of a rice dish, e xiao long bao n a drink for less than €10 at that Maxwell hawker centre. For tourists if u want cheap n good foods - dont eat at hotels or cafes, eat at food ourts or hawker centres - there's always one nearby withim 100m. U shd havegone to Siloso Beach whc is e most popular beach, or Tanjung Beach. Locals seldom go to Palawan beach. Singapore is not expensive if you stay in hostels or medium pricw botels n eat at foodcourts n hawker centres. Our mrt m bus sytsems can bring u to wherever u want to go. Ppl who say Singapore is expensive eat at hotels n restaurants n stay at 5 star hotels - n they say iSingapore is expensive. Chicken rice -?the chicken is served room temperature or cold, never not.

You will be charged according to the distance travelled when you tap out on public transportation. If you never tap out, you will be charged the maximum fare for the route. If you like birds, you can go to the Bird Paradise where you can see many types of birds up close. If you like to see nature & wildlife, you can go to the Sungei Buloh Nature Reserve. You can see crocodiles if you are lucky. Roasted chicken will be hot, steamed chicken are usually run throughcold water to maintain the succulent texture.
