To my ears the midi clock seemed very slightly off time. Hard to tell if it was the pattern or what, but it didn't feel exceptionally tight. Regardless, I make electronic music and lots of my friends are always asking what gear to buy if they want to get started. This seems like a pretty great option for a starter drum machine. If it sequences external MIDI gear, I might even consider getting it. Really neat.

Hi inthefade. I hit the key late on the AHSEEED MOOGER example. Technically the sequence is playing exactly where I told it to start, which is 1/16th note after the downbeat. (D'oh!) I didn't really notice until we were editing. We try to shoot everything in one take with no scripts as it just feels much more real than someone reading words and then having lots of multiple chopped takes cobbled together. Thanks! - Daniel Fisher

Ya thank Acoustribute , SweetwaterSound explained it to me. I'm am still pretty interested in this. I'm still not sure if it sends midi sequencing data other than clock signal, but it is still quite impressive.

If you are thinking of live performance in semi-loud situations the additional footswitch is fine. However, be warned, the switches make an awful noise. I would not take them into the studio for recording. Their tech man checked out my video and said that the level of noise was 'normal' for them. You can hear the clunk of the switch as well as the squeak of the spring, all amplified by the enclosure.

I think they all made a major gaffe with the extra footswtich pedal, you should have not only tap tempo readily available, but STRUM tempo too. There's nothing like the strum tempo, it works better than tap, but you should have these options as choice. AFAIK, only DigiTech delays (some of them) and TC Electronic uses both TAP tempo and strum tempo in conjuction or as a choice.

I like this review on the Beat Buddy, the best I have seen. I have a digital piano and I simply need a backbeat for songs, this looks like what I need. Can somebody please confirm that this will be good for Cuban/Latin songs i.e montunos and salsa etc? Some of the backbeats I'm looking for will be quite simple in nature...cowbell, clave sticks, shakers etc. I know this may seem a stupid request but I would love to know your opinions before I dive in and buy. Many thanks for any help.

Hi I just saw this review which is great!I have 2 question : 1 - Is this drum pedal can sync with tc helicon acoustic play, which I can use the drum pedal and use tc helicon's looper to sync together, so I can loop the progression and play lead after that? 2nd is can this drum pedal customize your own pattern of drums and save it into this drum machine and I can just load it up ? Please advised , thanks.

Hello! Thanks for your interest. The Beatbuddy syncs via MIDI (using the MIDI Sync cable accessory). The Voice Live Play Acoustic doesn't have MIDI in, so that won't work. You could do something like the Ditto X4 looper, as it does have MIDI in and out. Thanks again for your question! Derek Senestraro, Senior Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1243

someone needs to make a drum pedal that has nothing on it. That way you could go to their site and download what beats you want. That way you don't have to have beats on it that you don't want. Also, I am tired of pedal and amp companies not giving you the footswitch with the product. When i was growing up,if you bought something you got the switch and a cover. you didn't have to order them seperate. Just like a pedal that you do not get a power supply with it. Everyone needs to stop buying these products until they give you what you need with it.-Just my opinion. This is the problem with all the drum machines i have had-they have too much bullcrap on them. Keep it simple. I would like to have one with about 5 drum beats on it,but have access to where you could put more on it if you chose to.I don't even want rap or bluegrass beats on my pedal. They should have a list on the website that you choose what you want and leave the other stuff off it.

We moved to Nashville after graduation and played Country in our own Band, did session work on Demos and vanity albums for others for 12 years.
