The Prince of Asturias was a large transatlantic steam ship considered at the time a flagship of the Spanish merchant marine, being owned by the shipping company Naviera Pinillos.
After setting sail on what would be his last trip from Barcelona to Buenos Aires, he sank near the Brazilian coast on March 5, 1916, after hitting reefs, transporting 600 people on board. 457 lives were lost, saving only 143.
