This brought tears to my eyes. As a Trinidadian, as a little boy grew up in the early 90's who lived 10 minutes away from the Queen's Park Oval, I remember so vividly Sir Curtly Ambrose, Courtney Walsh, Brian Lara and Shivnarine Chanderpaul defeating the English, Indians, South Africans, Australians, Pakistanis and Kiwis. I am so proud that these men represented the Caribbean so well. So happy to se Sir Ambrose looking well.

His Majesty the KING of PACE LIKE FIRE., SIR CURTLEY (From the DOMAIN of FIRE DOWN BELOW) or possibly OUTER SPACE.., From the Glory days of the West Indies along with Malcolm MARSHALL, Courtney WALSH, Andy ROBERTS, Joel (Big Bird) GARNER, Patrick PATTERSON, Colin CROFT, Vanburn HOLDER and Ian BISHOP. and from the days of only two fast bowlers, Charlie GRIFFITH and Wesley HALL. No cricket fan can forget that day in Perth, Western Australia when CURTLEY ran amok and put SEVEN of the AUSSIE batting lineup back in the pavilion, batsmen of the caliber of Allan BORDER (The AUSSIE CAPTAIN) and the two WAUGH brothers and wicket keeper David BOON who was a great middle order batsman FOR ONLY 'ONE' RUN. (Year was 1993). Of course that is all history now and the men from the CARIB BeAN have to start building a new team to match the last. (ie; Just a little history about the word CARIBBEAN., comes from the word CARIB. When COLUMBUS the legendary Spanish sailor was "discovering" the West Indian Islands., after leaving South America and signing a document with the the local INDIOS Spain eventually colonised about two thirds of the land (Argentina, Columbia, Chile, Equador, Peru, Paraguay and Venezuela. So that is why they only ABLA ESPAGNOL). The British took one of the THREE GUAYANAS., which they named BRITISH GUYANA and here they speeka da INGLISH. The DUTCH - SURINAM, The FRENCH - CAYENNE here ille parle Francais. (BRAZIL was taken by PORTUGAL) As he sailed away leading three ships which were named the NINA, the PINTA and the SANTA MARIA in 1492 he first approached a little island just off the coast of Venezuela from its southern end and saw a small mountain range with three peaks and instantly named it la TRINIDAD. (meaning TRINITY island). He landed on the island and discovered that it was inhabited by mainly two South American Indian tribes, namely the CARIBS and the ARAWAKS. He immediately claimed it for SPAIN. Eventually having brought with them European "bugs" (diseases) The Arawaks became ill and the majority of them died. The Caribs were stronger and most of them survived. Many of the other "West Indian" islands were also inhabited by Caribs. Hence the word CARIBBEAN. The proper pronunciation of the word is KAA-RIB-YAN. (not KuhRibByan) I was born in Port of Spain., Trinidad on the 28th of February 1941. My maternal grandmother JUANNA (pronounced WHANNA /Joanna in English) was a pure blood South American Indian from a warlike Tribe in Venezuela. She was a JUARRAHOONG (pronounced Warrahoong) from the ORINICO delta. (If someone annoyed her she would say 'Dont annoy me.., I am a WARRAHOONG you know.) She never meant anything by it., she could not harm a soul, as she would display a mischievous smile to whoever she said it. Also they had no clue of what the word meant. On my father's side of French descent.., how come? My early forbear was a gentleman le Compte (Count) Louis De Verteuil who with his family fled from France during the French revolution. He got on a sailing ship and came all the way to Trinidad and settled there permanently. He was a good man, he acquired a large parcel of land in a town called Arima and became a farmer. He grew COCOA, COFFEE, BANNANAS. SUGAR CANE and who knows what else. He hired mainly people of Carib, African whose forebears came as Slaves, Spanish and French descent. Being at that time a British colony., the Governor (From England) knighted him and he became 'SIR' Louis De Verteuil. I was lucky to find a book with my paternal family's history before I migrated to Australia where I now live in a town called Tweed Heads located in the northern part of the state of New South Wales. (I arrived in AUZ in Nov 79). The book's name is "Sir Louis De Verteuil his life and times". AUZ land is a great country. FANTASTICO. Happy here. Thanks. Enough of me for today. As we say in AUZ G'day mate., take it easy. (OZZIES are very good at doing that.)

Just a little clarification of my name: De means Of. Verteuil is the family name. Similarly with Portugees, Spanish and Italian. ie: The legendary soccer player - PELE' his full name is - Edson Arantes DO NASIMIENTO meaning OF the NASIMIENTO family. (He was Brazilian - Their language is Portugese.) Example of Spanish name: Miguel DE UNAMUNO again meaning "OF the UNAMUNO family. Example of Italian name: Antonio DI GIOVANNI meaning OF the GIOVANNI family. The origin of these tongues are all of the same LATIN source.

Muchisimas Gracias Amigo To this day I am kicking myself for not having made the effort to learn to Abla Espagnol fluently. My granny (Juanita) as all her friends called her spoke the language beautifully. If Spanish people are having a conversation within hearing distance I understand every thing. I am aware that Giovani is Italiano. What a beautiful language and so expressive., the Italians not only speak so expressively but also their bodies., they use their hands a lot. So do Spanish people. I am also a cycling fan.., one of the legends of cycling was Fausto Coppi., whom the Italians loving called COPPINO. My paternal name (DE VERTEUIL) is FRANCAIS which I speak fluently. The De meaning OF and VERTEUIL the FAMILLY name. As you would certainly know all the Latin languages use the same principle. (ie. The legendary Brazilian footballer known as PELE., his full name was Edson Arantes Do Nacimiento., (The DOH meaning OF.) For the time being Adiosito. All the best to you and take care. Davido.

Never uttered a word of sledge all his playing days to grab 400.test wikets. Better this interview is telecast in the big screen of the stadiums around the world before the commencement of any test matches so that some sanctity is brought back into this gentleman's game. 😏 🇮🇳

Curtly never did interviews early in his career..he always said.."Curtly talks to no one man". He never really talked to opposition players until later on in his career for obvious reasons...Great guy
