I'm Yoruba but I listen to Nigerian highlife too. My parents exposed us to a variety of music from Igbo highlife, juju, yoruba Folkmusic but then I lived is a diverse neighbourhood area in Lagos and everyone played what they loved or from their region...blasting from their music system into the open air. So I heard music from other regions including our minorities. You have no option than shske your body and enjoy with every group. I was a kid then and didn't see 'ethnicity differences'. I just had friends that we played together or had game arguments.

This music is full of tunes and messages. Real life situations and a lavished uncensored expressions of the heart and how Sir Warrior Preached. I am from Ezinihitte Aboh Mbaise of Imo state West Africa. My love for music as a child started from Sir Warrior, Bob Marley, Osita Osadebe, Ebenezer Obey, Dan Maria Jos, and Fela Kuti. This song by our own legendary Worrior is for me, both a deep entertainment and spiritual chant song. How it worked I can't explain but I played it repeatedly in my car and house while reciting Psalm 91 when I was seriously betrayed and attacked by people for whom I had practically stuck my neck. God answered like of old, fast and furious to his Glory. So whenever they come hard and u think u have not done them bad, combine OZO WU IWEM with ur favourite Psalm or hymn. You will feel the power of prophetic lamentation in this song.

I remember sitting in Eziama, Ohanze village watching my younger brother put an amazing 'hop up and down' dance as we listened faintly to the music blasting live from an adjacent village (Abayi, Ohanze). The celebration at the village would be their last performance together with that member of the group before that member would succumb to illness. Thinking of it as little boy, that was more than three and a half decades ago. I can almost cry because of the memories and my love of his music, especially the song, "Chi Awu Otu"
@Zaramoku

What member are you claiming succumbed to an illness? Only three members of the Oriental Brothers have died, to the best of my knowledge. Ichita died first, but he had left the Oriental Brothers band before dying. Warrior died second, in 1999 -- Oriental Brothers band as known from the onset was no longer in existence then. Aloy died about 6 years ago but he left the Oriental Brothers band way back in 1979. So who are you claiming died while still in the band? Please, we do not do any favor to these guys memory by spreading false stories about them. I await your response.

Zaramoku Mr/Mrs Zaramoku, all I can recommend for you to do is to research the history with all the timelines before putting a person on a public blast. Nothing is short of the factual truth from my passage. I guess the better recommendation for you is to read my passage again and research carefully before jumping into the public forum to blast. I am not in the business of disparaging historic figures. Sir Warrior and the Oriental Brothers International are legends of highlife music. I have always loved their style and rhythm. Nevertheless, I am impressed with some of your dates of events. But I would recommend that you research a bit more to discover the truth to my passage.

If you assert, and that assertion is challenged, you back it up -- that's a basic standard of disquisition. Daring your challenger to do some research, over your own assertion, is not just ignorant, it is also dishonest. If you were not spreading rumors, all you had to do was name the band member you claimed died. Isn't that simpler, easier, and classier than your escapist and disingenuous response? My only concern is safe guarding the memory of these guys against rumor mongers, else I would have ignored your initial and subsequent fallacies.

Nothing do you my brother. May the almighty God have mercy upon your souls Warrior and Ichita. Biafrans are proud of you guys, because of this music I will not give anyone ticket tomorrow. Respect brothers, God almighty will show you mercy because you were a peace loving man. In 1994, I investigated a case of communal dispute over harvesting of palm fruits which involved your father and Chief Nneji the father of ABC transport. You came to police headquarters Owerri Imo state and sued for peace among the parties involved in the case and I honoured your request. I was in kaduna state when you answered your divine call. Before I decided to leave the country and continued with my career in a foreign land. Edmonton police service Alberta Canada 🇨🇦.
