This apocryphal book, written by a man named Jesus, is another example of wisdom literature. The book is known by various names, including Ecclesiasticus. More Bible information at www.bibledex.com/
@GodFormedUsTM ## It's as accepted as canonical & inspired Scripture by Catholics, Orthodox, & other non-Protestants - IOW, by the great majority of Christians. Therefore, it is perfectly appropriate to include the book in a set of video blogs about books of the Bible. Protestants are unusual among Christians in leaving it out of the OT. Hope that helps :)

@GodFormedUsTM I don't really know what you're saying? That Sirach should or shouldn't be in one's Bible....?!

The best chapters (IMO) are 44 to 49 (the "Praise of the Fathers") - & the prayer in 51. As for the implication that the Deuterocanonical books (such as Ecclesiasticus) are not as valuable as the others; Esther is far inferior in moral tone to Ecclesiasticus (as well as being narrowly nationalistic, unlike Jonah). There is some pretty debased stuff in the Bible at its worst. Which is not deny it has a use. Ecclesiasticus is more pedestrian than Second Isaiah, but not less really inspired.

it would have been Iesus in Latin or Ieshua in Hebrew. Jesus is the English assimilation of the name, because we find it hard to pronounce two Vowels at the beginning of a word.

The Bible as a whole didn't exist until hundreds of years after Christ. A group of people decided which books would be in the Bible, so people had to add & subtract to make it. Different communities would have certain apocryphal stories or writings that they would read along with the Bible. I think the Revelation quote means that people shouldn't add or take away words from the scripture, not entire books.

there were well over 5 diferent 'je'suses' throughout scriptures..prob tons more that we do not know about. JE'SUS is the UNIVERSAL 'name' that 'they' use for Mesiah, however that name was NOT prohecied in Is 7:14 ! Immanuel was the ONLY Name prophesied and His Name does NOT change !!!
