The one thing that affects me now that didn't really before is a sensitive scalp... I guess because I don't comb it or brush it anymore, after a re-tie...BAY-BEEEEE... That's my only negative, locking my hair was the best decision I've ever made. Compared to relaxing it or washing, deep conditioning, de-tangling, twisting, yada-yada, etc. etc. I don't ever want to go back to that.

Hey Claudeth! You should talk to your loctitian. Retighten should be that painful. Maybe a little sensitive if you have a sensitive scalp… but not painful.

The dandruff issue sounds like seborrheic dermatitis. Oils can make it worse. Rose dAnnor here on KZitem has a video on having SD with microlocs. Wash your hair with an anti dandruff shampoo with zinc pyrithione ( like head and shoulders) and let the shampoo sit on your scalp for a few minutes before rinsing it out. Or you can use a ketoconazole shampoo like nizoral. It also needs to sit on your scalp for 3-5 minutes. This kills the yeast that causes dandruff. If you use an oil, it should be fractionated coconut oil/mct oil

I use Head & Shoulders Royal Oil’s line of hair care products and they all work great for me. I shampoo the last day of every month. I use the RevAir reverse hair dryer after shampooing. The RevAir is wonderful on my loc’s just as it was on my loose natural hair!

I've never heard of that line thanks for the tip! What is a reverse hairdryer? Does it suck the moisture out of your hair?

@@NyaPlusLife The RevAir is great! Low to no heat. Never overly drying and smoothes my loc’s. My loc’s also seem to contract in diameter with reduced frizz. The latest model is quieter, smaller, lightweight and you can now apply all your products before drying. It’s expensive but saves so much time and perfect for natural hair! There are several KZitem tutorials on it’s use/effectiveness.

I use peppermint essential oil in water. I spritz my scalp as needed 2 -3 times a week- I only get a flakes in the front when it’s time to wash. I wash once a month. No products except the peppermint oil and water.

Lol, I was one of those who took that chance cause I was not about to suffer with itchy scalp 😂. I would use a small dab of rosemary oil on my fingertips and massage my scalp lightly, and I would lightly spritz my scalp with rose water as needed. No issues of slippage or any dry itchy scalp for me 😅😊❤
