President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. holds a situation briefing to assess the effects of Typhoon Carina and the enhanced southwest monsoon at the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) Headquarters in Camp Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City on July 24, 2024.
Earlier in the day, the President directed all concerned government agencies “to provide swift assistance to all those affected by Typhoon Carina and the enhanced southwest monsoon." He also instructed that all necessary support be carried out “promptly and effectively.”
In a statement posted on his official X account (formerly Twitter), President Marcos Jr. announced that the government has already prepositioned PhP2.88 billion worth of aid and close to 4,500 personnel on standby for search, rescue and retrieval operations.
He also mentioned that the government has already distributed assistance totaling PhP43.15 million to Filipinos affected by the southwest monsoon in Visayas and Mindanao, aiding 770,000 individuals.
