To be honest, at first, it was not reflexes, but great calls from Alex the instructor. Reflexes started to kick in on the second to third day. Before that it was just trusting the process :D

You definitely figured out where to stop the wing and that was super cool. I like stopping mine out front also instead of over my head. We call it checking the back of the surge. A fun thing that I like to do is, when I catch the wing like that, immediately take that right back into a spiral with a ton of weight shift and I release the pressure on the outside hand and lock in the inside one simultaneously. Do another 360, and get in a rhythm with the fast exits. (Until I get queasy!😮)😂

@@TheChrisBreyShow that is exactly what Alex sugested on one of the spirals, but I was too shy on the weight shift and break, and it just spat me out of the turn 😅 great feedback and advice, thanks a lot 🤗

@@AndreiPGPilot there are three places you can start the turn from after you catch it… immediately, at the bottom or on the way back up. Each one is going to give you a slightly different experience. Let me know how you like it! So much fun

Good progress. After the stall I also had always the problems that the ears were hanging in the lines. For clearing the cravate is maybe the stall spin on one side better - my opionion.

Yeah seemed so. We went from pumping the cravates out, to spin stalling to the cravate side, which worked much better :)

Nice! Looked like a lot of fun. On the rapid exit with the frontal on the Rook, you didn't run out of brake travel. Have a look again what happens - there are 2 other reasons it frontals.

@@7up-weee well, let's see: I didn't pull enough break for one... my hands were above the main carabiners and the second one must be the fact that I didn't keep contact with the brakes and let them go to fast mayve? 😅 thanks for the heads up and for the time you took to leave a comment 🤗 Much apreciated :)

@@AndreiPGPilot Yeah - you can't access the full brake range if your hands are in front of the Carabiners. If they are in a line with the risers and the carabiners you can put your hands down below your bum and you get a lot more travel - at least 30 or 40 centimetres extra. The second one is your hands go up before the wing has stopped moving forward. If you keep your hands down until the moment the wing stops, it won't frontal. The instant it stops, put your hands up.

Wow I misread and thought you were on a Theta ULS. But Omega - it seems so well behaved. Except maybe for several cravats. Probably unavoidable with the aspect ratio. I don’t have more than 130 flights and 30 hours. My weight is right between sizes on the Epsilon DLS but I’m perfect - just in the upper half on the Theta ULS. But Advance says it’s only for pilots with a few years of experience…. But after seeing how gentle the Omega is, I wonder if a low time guy could be safe on the Theta hmm 🤔 BTW I’ll do my first SIV with Marlin Lobb in Annecy in October. I booked three courses back to back. Hope to get comfortable but maybe I’ll be exhausted instead haha.
@AndreiPGPilot
Ай бұрын
@@larssorenson9916 three courses are going to feel like a lot 😅 The omega is pretty well behaved to be honest. Cravates as you stated, tend to happen because of the aspect ratio, and can be quite big, but nothing scary. 30 hours seems a bit low, but if you can get that to around 100, and a couple of siv's you should be more than fine :) I saw Advance just came out with the Sigma DLS, maybe give that wing a go as well, I am curious myself :) Annecy is a faboulous place, I wish you good times, and great fun 🤗 Personaly, I love my Omega, wouldn't fly anything else now 😅

@@larssorenson9916 also keep in mind it's still a D wing, even if a well behaved one. It will still try to rodeo with you in full stalls and big colapses on full-bar 😅

So inform me. On the 4:30 mark after the dive what was the correct way to handle that to not have a frontal? I thought you have to stab the brakes and catch the dive? I see your hands go down to do so. So what went wrong or what could be done different? Thanks!
@AndreiPGPilot
2 ай бұрын
The way I handled the dive was almost perfect, except for the fact that my hands only went down as low as my main carabiners. I should have punched the brakes straight down, giving me much more brake travel and thus more power to stop the wing :) My hands didn't go low enough, the wing just kept going beyond it's critical angle, and bam! :D

@@AndreiPGPilot Hi, I would add that you released the brake too soon as well. Maybe, the input was enough, but the release was too soon, the pendulum movement was still on the wing side, you have to wait for your weight to be charging the wing again to release the brake input. Regards, An other guy doing SIV with Alex ;-)
