As I sold my Company - also gave away, to the right time- as PT6 coming up I guess piston engines consumption is too expensive actually. thank's for Attention, regards from Germany

My dad buys and sells farm equipment. He went to an auction around 10 years ago and there happened to be a Piper Aztec for sale. That Aztec happened to be an aircraft my grandfather used to own. He bought it brand new from the factory in the 1970s without paint, and had it painted light green. It was a great little plane.

Great reviews. One thing that everyone in the industry never talk about though is useful payload. yes you can get 6 people in these planes, but how much fuel are you leaving on the ground? Mfg's almost never list useful payload...which is calculated at full fuel. The range with 6 people in these plans will end up being half since you have to stop for fuel and have reserves in IFR. You missed the 206/210's which can be had for under $100k as well. Still a great review. I am in the process of buying right now and cant decide on a 310 or Saratoga (little over the $100k range).

Two big things missing from this video - avionics and engine time. A modern glass IFR-certified cockpit swings the price $30K compared to a busted, barely legal, VFR steam panel. Also, engines get overhauled about once every 2000hrs, and that can cost $20K per engine. So depending on how much time those twins have on them, that's another $40K swing. Paint is another $10K. The airframe is only about a third of the cost.

Under $100k? 6-seat? Twin engine redundancy? Safety? Load capability? And safety, again. The answer is the C-337. If you don't stupidly takeoff with insufficient fuel or stupidly fly one into a rock-filled cloud, either of which will kill you in any aircraft type, this airplane won't kill you. I own one in Alaska. There is absolutely no piston aircraft I would trust more for night, mountain or IFR flight. Or in harm's way in hostile locales. I flew them in Vietnam, and later in Kosovo and Iraq after quitting the airlines at the 27-year point. Lose an engine after takeoff? Ho-hum. There's less noise and a reduced rate of climb. Now what else? There must be more to do. Oh yeah, the FAA says I'm supposed to land at the nearest suitable airport. Price? 50k to 60k is common. To get it over $100k, you're talking a Riley Rocket or a pressurized or a turbo with a loaded panel. C-336, the fixed gear model, is also an option. It's less expensive to maintain, but watch the rear engine temps. She is ugly; that's true. But that's only skin deep.

For those mentioning the cost of ownership, you must understand that most people who are interested in the purchase of a airplane or a boat will use it substantially more often than most people. Hell they might use it every other day. So while for us it is more economical to rent an airplane, for many others it may be cheaper to just purchase one. Of course this depends on the type of plane or boat. Hell a sail boat or an airplane powered by a Chevy engine, is a lot cheaper to maintain than a cheap private jet. If you don't use it often, don't buy one.

Just watch the 310 with tip tanks can turn into a frisbee in a spin.. The mooney is a doctor killer. Aaaaaahh you got a winner with the piper chereokee or sennica. Thats my 2 picks, you had a good selection and thank you for feeding my flying bug, I thought I had lost it Just seeing the interior Of a piper again did it for me.

Mooney doesn't have that reputation. The Beech Bonanza V-Tail has the doctor killer reputation.

@@andrewdiamond2697Hahah true I just have personal experience with a guy we called "dr Death", one time he was landing his bravo while trying to scrape the window with his arm through the storm window, with his whole family. Drs can afford alot of airplane and tend to go more complicated than they are ready for like variable pitch and retractable gear, then do things like push the weather cause they think they are god.

fixed landing gear suck! Retractable is way better which contributes to better air dynamics.

Good assortment and choices. I'm glad you pointed out operating costs above and beyond fuel. that's the nut right there. be very thorough (& honest) in determining your operational needs prior to selecting an aircraft. In addition, you may want to consider the type of flying you want to (can) do. 1000 mile range sounds nice yet realize that's 5+ hours in a plane with your PAX. fly safe and fly well.

Great idea of making a video with this comparison! Just a few things: Baron 55 is 4 seater! Baron 58 is 6 seater. For 100k you‘ll get a wreck There are more aircraft you didn’t mention. Twin and single. Single: Beech Bonanza 36, C206, C210... Twin: C337, etc...

You should make a video. I'd watch it.

@@siliconiusantogramaphantis2122 If one goes out to public and gives a speach or video or something like that, it would be great to do the complete homework before that, in order to give good information. Not just parts or unrealistic scenarios. If one doesn’t know enough or is just lazy, don’t try to “educate” the world with half-knowledge. Do it right or just be quiet. Sorry. Who asked him to do this video? I didn’t. Did you?

Two different engines - I don't think so. He obviously didn't do his homework. They are the same engines but what he meant to say is - they have two engines.
