50+ years ago my grandfather saw this game being played at the CNE in Toronto. He thought the board looked pretty simple to make, so he went home and made one! He played with my dad and my uncle all the time and they all got pretty good at it. Growing up, my brother, sister and I would spend hours and hours playing this together. And today, 50+ years later, we went to my grandparents house for my dad's birthday. My dad had the idea to get the table out, and my 6 year old son got to learn as well. Amazingly he picked it up super quick and shot a 54! The best I could do today was 48! For my dad it was like riding a bike and he shot 80 with ease! Long story short, the fun and competition that this game delivers is hard to beat. I think the attraction comes from its simplicity, but it takes great skill to score high! Edit: This video surprised me, I didn't know it's played with 30 pucks! We have only ever played with 20 because that's how many my grandfather made, so we thought that highest possible score was 100 haha. Today we actually played with 19 because one is missing, so we would just return the first missed puck.

We just got the game and started playing straight away. The sjoelbak we ordered is just like the one in the video. It's very well made and it's a high quality, beautiful, durable product. I can't wait to introduce the game to my 10-year old daughter!

I just bought one of these exact tables for my family for Christmas. We live in the US and I had some friends introduce me to this game at their house years ago and we really enjoyed it. I noticed in your video, after folding the board closed, the lady has to put it under her arm to carry it. Would it be possible or feasible to add some kind of handle to carry without detracting from any structural issues to the game? If so, was just a thought and or suggestion. Thank you for this video as I could not remember the name until I did research and how the rules and scoring go. I highly recommend this for anyone who likes to socialize with friends and family for hours of fun.

Nice, but some incorrect information: "sjoelbak" comes from the Frisian "sjoeltafel" and "sjoelen" from the Frisian word "sjoele/sjoelje". A "bok" is no freebie. If a puck lands on another puck, you're not allowed to throw that puck again.
