What are your thoughts on the corkscrew and reverse corkscrew forward and backwards skating technique vs. the straight push or the backwards c-cut to push methods? Is it merely preference or a combination of all of them that's better? BTW I watch, practice, and apply everything I possibly can of your videos and schooling. You're the best!

He has another video explaining that corkscrews are medium speed and crossovers are fastest method of going forward or backwards.

Going backwards clockwise is ok’ish but the other way around sucks. Have the same going forward but the exact opposite (counterclockwise stepping over is ok but left over right is more difficult. Taking mostly left turns growing up did not help

First thing I noticed with his videos is his ultra wide stances and strides. I’ve never seen a pro skate with such an exaggerated stance and stride. Watch Larkin or McDavid skate.

Now there's some bad advice. Between the blue lines, always x-over, and then in your zone, c-cuts only.

@MattsBaseballWorld Yeah and when you're in a hurry and you trip over your legs and fall down and the forward walks past you and deposits the Puck in the net, you can sit on the bench the rest of the game. My buddy is a skate instructor for an NHL team. That's what they teach NHL level D Men. You do heel-to-heel when you're moving laterally for a bunch of reasons. Guy's like Bedard make D Men who cross over skating look like fools. Bad advice? Pffffffft don't even know what TF you're talking about.
@kirkskebo268

As soon as a D crosses over one way, anyone playing junior and up is going the other way. Then you’re absolutely caught flat footed with no way of getting over to/being able to pivot to catch the player burning you

@@darksaga80 Well, if you can't skate and are just going to trip all over the place, nothing is going to help you. But if you practice at game speed, you'll get it, and you'll be able to gain speed, backwards and facing the play, rather than having pivot forwards to gain your speed and have to turn your back on the play... fwds love seeing that.
