@@ksaweryjanowski827 Kinda, because even in Revelation they suggested that he was an extradimensional demon (similar to his origin in the earliest minicomics from the 80's) so most fans assumed Keldor didn't exist in this continuity. Also, the prequel Revelation comic miniseries written by Kevin Smith further served to drive home the extradimensional origin, as it seemingly showed a flashback of Skeletor living peacefully with others of his race where he was a loving father with a family before the Horde came along and slaughtered nearly everyone. Which ultimately turned out to be false memory implanted by Hordak as revealed here.

@@alanguages Actually, yes and no. The earliest minicomics where Eternia was a more barbaric low technology world (with He-Man and his allies actually living a primitive lifestyle) did indeed establish Skeletor to be an extradimensional demon from Despondos who was attempting to bring others of his race to Eternia. However, there was a soft reboot of sorts which reimagined Adam as the crown prince of Eternos whom we're more familiar with, and the later minicomics strongly hinted that Skeletor was actually Randor's long lost brother Keldor (this story was never fully resolved however).

Yes, Keldor was the focus of a minicomic (I think it was called 'The Search for Keldor') from the original Mattel toyline where it was established that he was Randor's long-lost brother who'd mysteriously vanished into another dimension. When the Sorceress attempted to pry into the veil between dimensions, Skeletor (who'd been spying on them) panicked and intervened, stating that he couldn't afford to allow others to discover Keldor's ultimate fate as it would prove to be his undoing and so they never found out what really became of him. Years later, the writer for that specific minicomic confirmed that Keldor was indeed Skeletor, who'd been warped by dark magic and that pronouncing Keldor while slurring would kinda sound like Skeletor. and if the good guys had ever learnt this, they might've figured out a way to restore him. Mattel never originally intended for this storyline to be resolved though and so it was just kinda left hanging for many years, although it was particularly memorable amongst the fandom.
@Artisan1979

It was smart on the writers, part to reveal that Hordyk had stripped him of his memories when he became Skeletor. Feeding him the false narrative of being an evil demon from another dimension. But doing so, it linked the series to the original cartoon because that's how the sorceress describes Skeletor. And the fact that there is no illusion on his part that indicates a lineage between he and the royal family, he simply he did not remember. I like this angle because it makes it almost Shakespearean, and it makes the vendetta and rivalry between he and prince Adam, that much more personal.

Keldor was not mentioned in the Filmation series - the minicomic "Search for Keldor" came out after the series ended. In that comic he was implied to be the origin of Skeletor, but Skeletor also seemed to know where he came from there. In the 2002 Mike Young Productions version, Skeletor is explicitly Keldor and he remembers it as well. Although we never found out Keldor's connection to the royal family or why Randor was named king instead of him as that was intended to be a later reveal.

Except that all of this comes from an unreleased BIble that they drew up over a YEAR before REVELATION came out. They always planned this out like a trilogy and purposely sent red herrings into motion regarding Skeletor's origin in this Smith-lead version. They were talking about Keldor and Hordak back in 2020 and earlier, even dreaming to get Keith David to voice Hordak. They worked out the whole thing with the three gods waaaaaaay back then. Before all the Veronica Salts came out moaning and complaining. MOTU and Marvel Studios Veronica Salts don't get EXPECTATION SUBVERSION (e.g., Skeletor was always planned to be revealed as Keldor; the Kangs only exist to set up the FANTASTIC FOUR and the REAL big bad, Doctor Doom). It was clear that Smith didn't know squat of MOTU even when claiming to be a fan, to then on camera saying that he didn't know much of MOTU. All the negative backlash and feedback that Smith got was well deserved because he was very open and vocal to the development of the prior series and his plans and his ignorance. That being said, at least now there's a correction, but it is clear that it was all an effort to correct the past mistakes, especially since Teela was to be the new champion. There was even mention of them holding episodes due to rewrites and the such. But hey, at least this is good now... Does it give Kevin Smith a good look? Not really, but I believe he learned to stick to his original ideologies of LISTENING to the Fans and not attacking them as he used to claim back in the day. Something he betrayed with his prior MOTU series.

Also, MOTU has always been a mash of Magic and technology, even used by Skeletor and everyone around Eternia.
