this sketch is so intricate, even when your lines are more loose and suggestive than if youd be doing a full render! I feel like i missed out on learning this method of simplifying structure drawings in perspective a long time ago, and am only learning it now, i dunno why it hadnt clicked for me before, lol; I admire how you're employing a "reverse watercolour" method by blobbing out the colours first before applying sketch lines, it's a really interesting approach to the whole process that allows for more looseness and suggestive details

I love this sketch. I am surprised on how beautiful it turned out with only 3 colors. The textures and colors of the first layer opened my mind to a new way of painting. I always really enjoy watching you paint the 2nd layer and the details, the mixing of colors on the paper was very interesting. As I always say, very elegant and beautiful painting. Thank you Jillee 😊

Thank you Laura💗 yes, Amsterdam is love! Theoretically primary colors can be used to mix every color right? So I wondered if I could just use three for a whole sketch, need to use all 6 primaries next!

Early on I was thinking- "what is my girl gonna do with no burnt sienna?" Got my answer at around 20 min with the rooftops on the right! I thought there it is. sure enough- you mentioned it later. I noticed so much during this one and your commentary mentioned most of the things I was noticing. This one has me going back and rewatching some of the others. Thanks so much it was really outstanding- I continue to learn more and more. lookin for the next one. I could go on but will spare you all!

I love your videos. They actually make me want to do watercolour and not be afraid of the mess that will happen, cause me and watercolour equals poo like colour at the end... i am genius that way... but really your loose inking and the way you play with colours and shapes is just contagious! And you have a really nice voice to go along with it which enhances the experience. So thank you for taking the time and effort to make these videos. I am sure it isn't easy so a huge thank you!

Well - it is amazing. It helps to have the ability to not only draw in perspective extremely well (as you do) but also to draw in proper sizing and dimension (as you do). When you combine both of those abilities... the rest is just putting it down on paper. The hardest part for me right now is making things look "real"... instead of "wonky". I don't want to pull out a ruler and measure.. I want this free flow and quick method you have... but, after 5 years of work, it still isn't there for me yet! Any guidance (besides.. practice!)? 🙂
@JilleeArts
Жыл бұрын
Well, I think one of the most important things with drawing something that looks “real” is actually observation skills, and drawing what you see instead of what you think you see. It’s easier said than done I know. Will try to give more tips about drawing in future vids!💗
@pesto12601

@@JilleeArtsThanks.. yes.. much easier that done in reality. I just inked a pencil drawing I did of a building/dock scene... the perspective is all over the place, the sizing is completely wrong and the angles/lines/shapes are also garbage. Sure - it is ok and my work so good for me.. but a shame I don't the skills/ability to do better... like you do!

Usually I only preload the brushes if I want to paint a little faster. If they do dry out, I just dip in a little water to rewet😊
