Need urgent help. I want to carve text in the same cylinder. How can i do that? in other words, i have a same cylinder and want to carve my name on it. Kind of text wrapping. Name should stick to the edge of cylinder. (i will put bulb inside that cylinder so that name can project on the wall.) How can i do that? FYI, i am not using pro version. checking trial version before i make my decision.

At 5:46 you selected the line at the top of the curved window and then used push/pull to pull it up. I'm not able to do that? When I select the line, then select push pull, it just says I can't do that. Do you know why, perhaps?

I have a question. If you are doing a big project and have broken it up into small pieces. Example. Designing a car. If you design the seats in one file of maybe even several seats each with it's own file when it's time how do I bring the seats into the final project? It is not a good idea to do all the detail work in the same file because it slows down sketchup. I have been doing a similar project and feel a little foolish because I have several of the items done but don't know how to bring them together in a master plan. It seems like I should be able to do it easier than it is to get something from the warehouse but I'm totally stuck! Could really use some help! I'm sure I'll do a head slap when I see it. Hit a brick wall.

Amerijam Acres Here are a few things you can do to help keep SketchUp from slowing down: 1. View > Face Style > Use "Shaded" or "Monochrome" (You won't lose your textures. This is just how it will be displayed on screen while you're working on the model. This helps A LOT!) 2. Window > Model Info > Statistics > Purge Unused 3. Window > Styles > Simple Style 4. Put things on Layers and hide those layers when you're not working on them. Working with Layers: Creating a new Layer: Window > Layers > Click the plus icon on the top left of the Layers window. Name your new layer "Seats". Access the Layers Toolbar: (This is different from the Layers window) View > Toolbars > check "Layers" With your seats selected click the right dropdown menu on the Layers Toolbar and put them on the "Seats" layer. Go to the Layers Window. Uncheck Visible.

I use layers for many things but I've been unable to bring one component from a different file into the complete project. I've done several components in their own file. I don't know how to put them together. I prefer to work on each part separately and bring them together when done just can't figure out how to import my own components.

I have designed a house but designed the kitchen cabinets in a separate file and have downloaded the building site from google earth on another file. How do I put the kitchen in the house and put the house on the land. With 11 acres I have multiple options and would like to just import the file with the house into the site This should be an easy thing to do but I'm at a total loss. I should be able to design a kitchen cabinet and move that cabinet into any house without having to build it again in each house. All I'm trying to do is get a component from one file and use that component in another model. This should be easy but I'm brain dead on this for some reason.

Open the file containing 'seats'. Minimise that sketchup window. Open the file containing rest of the car. Now you will have 2 instances of sketchup running simultaneously. Toggle between those two files using ctrl + tab. Select seats and hit ctrl + c Switch to the file containing rest of the car and hit ctrl + v
