I think the skid steer is just more pleasing on the eye and has a nicer cab but they’re both good for the job really, also skid steer is good if you have low door openings

@d57702 I don't usually run any skidsteer with any type of foot controls. I prefer Case machines personally. The machines we run are always on full throttle, because it is necessary for the type of work we're doing. Plenty of heavy loads.

Because I don't have small areas to work in, I'd definitely choose an articulating loader for its greater visibility, ease of access, smoother operation, vastly less tire wear, and greater reach of loader. With a skid steer adaptor, it can take any skid steer attachment.

There are advantages and disadvantages of both. Personally, I'd choose a skid steer. I think you can get more productivity from it.

Not really a fair comparison when you use a full sized articulated with all around tires vs a purpose built cheap skid steer with regular flat tires. They aren't designed for the same conditions you are testing them in... If you have to do many things, the articulated is the clear winner, if you do to many of the same things the skid wins every time, it's far more maneuverable and takes way less actions per minute to get the same result. Apples and oranges.

The skid steer is using CAT controls. Seems to be set up the exactly the same as CAT skid steer, track loaders, and blades. I personally prefer the standard controls. Foot throttle is a waste on any skid steer. Debris builds up inside the mechanism and make the throttle stick. I use skid steers daily building highways in Toronto.

Pivot steer is the best, way better to handle, and drive when loading things on trailers and so on. I tried both amny times,a WeideMann 1070 and a Bobcat 753, and the Bobcat, and the Bobcat is way longer to steer proberbly when loading things on trailers, trucks ex. I would allways choose a pivot steer. :)

@poppaschlong2000 Cat controls are way better much less fatigue and if debris builds up under the throttle are you saying you never have that problem with the "Bobcat" set up? Anyone is anything suck to your boots have to clean that crap out pretty regular. Besides why run a machine wide open all the time and burn a lot more fuel? I often run the throttle a little less than half way and hit the foot throttle when I need the extra juice. Seriously, CAT controls are the way to go!

I have never seen one of those pivot loaders in the USA. I have read discussion of them being better, but there is one thing I notice right off. Skid steers are heavier built than tractors and other like farm equipment. That seems the case with the loader as well. The loader does not seem to be as heavily built as the skid steer but that my just be my perception. I bet the loader would get stuck less.

I've owned and operated a few loaders (Weidemann). They are not your tough construction site - ready loaders that'd be designed to handle every untrained operator. But we put 14,000 hours on the first Weidemann. The second has a broken counter, but I guess, we're at about 9,000 hours yet with many more to go.

I really like the side doors for safety but JCB and Volvo (who seem to be the only manufactures who make them) are lower powered to Deere, CAT, Kubota, etc. I wanted one but bought the Deere 333G for its massive breakout force.
