We run 4 of them on our farm, they work amazing. 2 1840’s , 2 1845c’s. My husband and boys love using them. I’m more astonished at how much abuse the one of them has taken. We regularly service them and we have one at 21000 hrs, other old one at 11,000, both still have original everything

This is a great video, thank you for sharing! I see the pistons have marring on the sides but what specifically was causing the knock?
@PrecisionWeldandFab
2 жыл бұрын
The piston rings were seized on a couple of the cylinders likely cause the farmer that had it before us used ether to start it start regularly so that caused most of the scarring, but since the rebuild it’s been running great

If you could do jt over would you still get older machine and rebuild vs newer machine? Pros and cons?
@PrecisionWeldandFab

Good question. Yes it’s a lot of work. But hard to find a good machine that you know inside and out for $6000 plus $8000 for parts. Equals $14,000 in total. Free labour though! You have to enjoy the labour part. It’s all about price, if you can find one that needs less repairs for the right price that’s a good thing. Keep your eyes out and keep crunching numbers. Ask a lot of questions to the seller to get a good idea/feel of what they are selling. Follow your gut, if it doesn’t feel right don’t buy it

I was also very surprised you managed to find a kit to seal it up, being it was as old as it is What an awesome job you guys did! How much money did you end up putting into it? I'm curious if you were able to refurbish a lot of stuff? or did you end up having to buy new hydraulic motors for the wheels? or what happened? (I looked in the description didn't see any details)

The absolute worst thing you can do in a skid steer is push with the bucket in the position he has it at 6:00 that is a sure fire way to bend a hydraulic cylinder rod
