i lived next to jay peak and skied and snow boarded there more then 900 times if the lift operators were giving you a hard time you did something wrong the most of them have worked there for years on end i went to school in Montgomery vt and jay peak was our gym class in the winter you had a 2 hour group class and the rest of the day was open to do you wanted and the lift people were the best and polite

All mountain's require that you take off your backpack surely you heard this before. This was early season conditions. I don't really know what you expected. The place sucks know one should go, and stay out of the woods, They're really dangerous. 😊

Actually, sorry to say... no, I have not heard that before. I have skied for 40 years, and in many countries... and only two times in my life I was asked to take my backpack off -- both were in the US. First time was when I was helping first-timers onto a chair lift on the learners slope, and that area did not allow backpacks on the lift. But the rest of the same resort did not have any restrictions, all other lifts there were fine. The second time was here at Jay... but my point was not about having or not having back pack. If a resort has a policy, I ll be happy to go along. I just didn't understand why they went about it so agressivelly. They literally out of nowhere started to yell as I was getting on my first lift, and then stopped the lift, when the pack was not the way they would like. I thought, "maybe the guy doesn't have a good day today". But then as I was cruising around other "lifties" behaved similarly. It felt a bit over the top. But probably something happened recently and they were told to be super strict about it. Who knows. It just didn't make the overall experience comfortable. That's all. The next day we went to Mad River and the experience was exactly the opposite... it's like you could have 6 backpacks and nobody would care as long as you use common sense in their ski area and not put anyone in danger... but I am definitely coming back when conditions are better. 🤙

At 1:27 if you keep your speed and fly into that trail on your left it'll take you into the most fun glades I've ever experienced. Some really gnarly stuff in there.

It's not even mid-December yet. There is more snow and terrain there than in Lake Tahoe right now. We can barely make snow with the warm temps. I'd say that looks like a pretty good early season experience. Go back after they get a couple of storms and ski in the trees.

Thanks! Definitely want to go back. I saw all the potential of the mountain. Just couldn't do any of that on that day... I might publish the whole day experience on "Type1FunDay" channel. Fingers crossed for another chance to go to Jay this year, it's far. I assume youre talking about Tahoe, when you say no temps for snowmaking. I just came back from Hunter - small hill in NY - they made snow on multiple trails, but their comment was very similar. :'( Its warm.

The sharp right you made on Ullr's Dream is right where you should go straight. It brings you into these glades that have so much powder usually. It's amazing there.

Thanks for the tip. I really hope that we will be able to return when the snow is prime! hat day, unfortunately almost everything was closed, including glades.. but also normal trails. When we arrived only the "baby flat lift" was running for the first two hours, while the weather was almost perfect. We wanted to hike to the top, we got stopped a few times. Most lifts were opened in the afternoon only. It was odd experience. Fingers crossed for next time. :-)
