Today, I'm talking all about the ACCEPTS DBT Skills. DBT, or Dialectal Behavioral Therapy, was created as a treatment for borderline personality disorder (BPD) but can be used to help anyone cope with strong emotions. ACCEPTS is an acronym within DBT that covers some distress tolerance skills, or how to deal with distress and ways to cope with a crisis. In particular, ACCEPTS gives you ways to distract yourself from emotional pain. These skills for dealing with distress have been very helpful for me, and I hope that you are able to incorporate them into your life as well.
