I just wanted to say, I have a terrible time reading now days so as I've been going through the core book, the hearing things verbally explained is so helpful and you do a very clear job. Thank you!

Another good video in this series John. I would like to see something on compels, like a compelling 101maybe. I am really weak on compels I know.

John, I think a video on aspect Permission/Denial/Justification may help quite a few people. For example, if I have the aspect of "Behind a Brick Wall", some may think that you could invoke it to get a defense bonus (which you could), but the more powerful application would be that it Denies direct attacks forcing an attacker to use indirect fire (for which it could be invoked), or it needs to be overcome somehow (fire a grenade at it, jump over it, etc). I personally believe that Permit/Deny is the most powerful aspect of an aspect. Cheers.

I think Fate could be also played in way you start "While in small village you guys were outside playing" and player's get to add 1 skill at the time and "level up" while playing... anytime there is time jump to the future players get few skills to add or level up they could then also wait writing the high consent and flaw for later and be rewarded for writing them with extra two skills and to play campaign from there :D start with a name of character and let's go... would be interesting

I entirely agree, I think Fate is more than capable of supporting a milestone style of advancement where you just get to "level up" at certain point, also for playing that "level zero" style of game where you start off with very little but define your character through their actions in play - think that would be a great idea, thanks for sharing :)

@@RedDiceDiaries I would not be surprised if good GM could just hand over paper and pen for Fate system and ask to name them self and then started to play the game :D

I saw it is possible to do something like "power a stunt" or "use a powerful stung" by spending a fate point, but could not find a lot of explanation in book? Could you writte, say, or record something about it? I think it may be useful and entertaining for those player and gms who are not so familiar with whole aspect and compel thing because fate is new system to them, etc.

+mayavadi : Thanks, I'll add this to my list of videos to do a detailed explanation of in the future; essentially though normal stunts do not require fate points to power, but a stunt that would normally be too powerful can be limited and bought down to an appropriate level by assigning it a fate point costs.

Stunts seems to be useless to me as they're written. I mean, a simple +2 bonus in circumstances described seemed lame to me and not worth a whole fate point which could be used to add +2 if I have a cool aspect. In current Changeling game not a single player took a normal mortal stunt. Why should they if they have access to Contracts which are fairy magic made more akin to Mage Spheres or Arcana in our case?

MrWolfoyote : The benefit of a Stunt over invoking an Aspect are that, although a stunt costs 1 refresh, using it thereafter doesn't cost a FP, whereas unless you have a free invoke you will be regularly spending FP to invoke your aspects; as the video says it's a matter of reliability vs versatility, which of those is preferred is a matter for the individual player. The other advantage of stunts is that the +2 bonus is only one possible variety of stunts, there are other effects that can be garnered from them (as detailed in the Fate Core rulebook). I can't really speak to your use of contracts since (although i'm aware of how they work in the NWOD system) I do not know how you have converted them.

Red Dice Diaries Well... true, I guess, but you need to pick a stunt that you surely will use a lot, and it's kinda hard to guess I'd say. I must admit I didn't quite grasp variety of other stunts, those more interesting than +2 to stuff, could you tell me more? I've converted them rather freely and simply. Contract work with one kind of entity, say we got Contract of Darkness, we could do lots of stuff with Darkness. Contracts in nwod as is are... not satisfying. For a magic system we currently use Dresden Files RPG with some minor tweaks. Also, we don't use Glamour per se, but we got Glamour Hunger which raises when one push his own powers a bit too far. Yes, in our case Changeling magic could damage and kill. It's scary, but it suits us, because Keepers themselves becomes powerhouses too.

MrWolfoyote : If you look at fate-srd.com/fate-core/building-stunts you will find a list of what sort of stuff you can do with stunts; the core book also makes allowances for players leaving stunts blank at character gen and then chosing them in play, allowing you to get a feel for what sort of situations your PC will get into on a regular basis before choosing. I do agree with the contracts for NWOD changeling, I wasn't particularly stunned by them myself.
