Melissa you're fantastic! I have so enjoyed watching your videos for the last few months and love all your recommendations. I have been thinking I needed to take up knitting again. My novice ability should be able to handle these facecloths. Great idea! Thank you so much. I so love your sweet southern voice and your fun informative presentation. I have enjoyed every video I have seen. It is so nice to be able to get all the ideas I need at my age to keep current, healthy and active. I have used tretinoin on and off for 30 years and it does make a difference so I am using it more in the last year and even on my eyelids the last few weeks after I saw women on KZitem say they had used it. It did get very dry and irritated the first time and then I used oils to hydrate and then cautiously proceeded the next week to use it with my eye cream every other day. Thanks again Melissa. xo

LOVED the knitted washcloths!! I am going to make myself some and I think I might make some for my granddaughters as part of a "spa" basket with facial cleanser, an oatmeal mask, and some bubble bath and some other goodies. I thought they were such a good idea and I am going to stitch their names on theirs and crotchet a cute trim on them. I think that is such a great idea! Plus they are nice cotton that you can just toss in the wash and clean them well. Love it!

When I was 17 and first married Rogers grandmother taught me how to knit, and I still have my needles. But I need to get my bag back out and try to remember what that simple stitch was. She also taught me to crochet, and I made a beautiful table scarf with the thread that is almost as thin as thread. It's really beautiful and my mother has it. It was on her coffee table when I was there taking care of her and it's amazing that I did that. It was a pineapple design. She liked it so much I gave it to her years ago. Three years later I had our son, and well I sure didn't have time for those hobbies anymore. Then eventually I went to work. So, thanks for bringing this back to my mind, and it was great seeing you demo just a couple stitches...much love my beautiful friend..xoxo

Hi Melissa, I make myself facial little towels. I use one for a day or two and make them about 45 stitches wide and like 60 rows. In other words, in comparison to my facial cloths, the towel is 1 1/2 times the width and 2 times as long. I only use these on my face. The washcloths I make my husband are 1 1/2 times the width and the length of my facial clothes which are 28 to 30 stitches and 28-30 rows. I use the facial cloths only once. I hope I explained that clearly. Hugs, Susan

Time to get back to the dermatologist to get a retin A script! I love using those knitted washcloths especially in the kitchen and I used to use them all the time. My Nan and Mother were both talented knitters and could create anything and follow patterns etc for clothes and toys.. but me..nope. However I found that I was pretty good a Crotchet and have made and sold a couple of Afghans and toys in the past. I might just try out a basic crotchet version face cloth, it shouldn't be that much different to a knitted one. Keep up the Instagram stories!.. Lol, you are so cute and funny! I never though of knitted wash clothes but I can see how they would be nice. I tried knitting during the holidays but in my case it ended up as knotting. 😖 but maybe I will give it another go at some point. I can see it is relaxing. Enjoyed the video. Thanks Melissa!

I love your videos when it comes to your own personal skin care products you use and routine. You must be doing something right to look amazing at your age. Can you comment on how you keep firmness and volume on your face? What do you think has help keep your skin so firm and have good volume?
@Melissa55
6 жыл бұрын
Oh Chris, I can't thank you enough for this. I don't know about the firmness and volume - I feel like it's sagging, but maybe the products I use? I do know if I use a Clarisonic or if I ever add moisturizer to my skin it sags to high heaven. So maybe using drying products keeps it firmer? My cheeks are a little fat cause I'm carrying some weight I'm trying to get off. I am working on it (as I eat some pizza. lol ) Lots of love! Melissa

Hi beautiful Melissa! I really enjoyed hearing how you layer your skincare. It can be confusing if you use a number of different products! I think those wash cloths are such a great idea! They would give the perfect exfoliation. I must try knitting some. You look so gorgeous! I love that colour on you. I hope you are having a great week. Lots of Love, xoxo Daphne.💖💖

That is so funny! I just took my second knitting class. My grandmother taught me when I was about 7, but I forgot how! Now I'm addicted. I love the idea of the washcloths. Do you know what the fiber content is of the yarn you use? I have to make some. Thanks as always for a fun and interesting video! BTW - love the red lace top.

Hi Melissa, you always look gorgeous. I don't even know how to use instant messaging on KZitem and on Instagram I'm so sick of strange men wanting to talk to me, I do like chatting with my friends on IG but I wish the creeps would go away! 😀 It's always a joy to spend time with you, I don't knit my mom use to, I doubt I'd have the patience. Hi Melissa, Your complexion looks pretty so keep doing what you are doing. Those wash cloths look great. I use wash cloths too, but so far just the terry cloth towels you buy at the store. I will have to check out the You Tube videos on how to knit. My veterinarian gave me a knitted wash cloth as a gift one year. One of her clients knits them. Your make up looks so pretty and your lacey top is pretty too. Have a wonderful rest of the week! xoxo, Karen

Hi Melissa, dermatologist will tell you that toners, today, are just not necessary. Astringenet toners were used in the past to counteract the alkalinity of soap but facials cleansers now typically are Ph balanced or slightly acidic by themselves. Glad to see you knit with circular needles, too. Love them. Right now, my knitting is all about socks for my son who says mine are the only socks he likes. I finally taught myself to knit two at a time which speeds up the process. Knitting is a favorite hobby for architects and engineers because it uses mathematics and creates a 3D object from a 2D design. Cheers!

Palladio 747 Not exactly... Soaps are acidic and toners today do much more than rise your skin pH. Some have vitamins and AHA to do a mild exfoliation.
@Melissa55

I just have never liked toners. I just like stuff right next to the skin. I really prefer circular needles even if knitting straight. Oh you have my utmost admiration if you are knitting socks. I have to admit they are not my favorites. that is so interesting about architects & engineers! I appreciate it! xoxox, Melissa

Melissa55 Again, if you put a strong acid directly on dry skin it will strenght its potency/side effects as more amount of the product will be absorved into the skin. Unlike you, I do the French/Korean 5 steps skin care at night (4 steps int the morning, instead of moiturizer I use a creamy sun blocker ). I use an oil to remove my makeup ( it removes it all, even eye waterproof makeup!) put lots of water to take it off (plain water is acidic...) and a toner after to hydrate and balance my skin' s pH. Serum/cream/oil came after, no oils on summer. I don't use foams or soaps on my face, cause of the drying/stretching effect, only micellar water. But my skin is getting more and more dry, I work in cold (18° celsius) operating rooms with very low humidity (30%) the entire year and I like to feel my skin very hydrated and plumped. I'm also a skin care freak, and like to try new stuff, alternate a lot!, right know with skin growth factors Serum. I have a good skin at 45 yo, I don't smoke or drink alcohol, no real wrinkles (some fine lines on eye contour area and forehead...), spots or sun damage, and excellent genetics. People give me less 10 years. I don't know what happens after menopause, when women really start to age. I don't know if my skin routine is better than yours (or not) but it makes me feel great spoiling my skin every night. Have a nice Sunday!

I think your routine sounds marvelous!!! I think probably your skin routine is better than mine because it works for you! lol What I mean is to me a skin care is successful if it works for that person and they are happy with it, but it might not be for everyone. I think the harsh products I use wouldn't be good for someone in a cold climate, it would be too harsh because they already live in a harsh environment. So they would need to find the right products for them. And the nice thing about KZitem is we can share and talk about experiences and just get good ideas from each other. I love that. When I was a younger woman I never would have dreamed I would be able to talk to women from all over the world. It's an amazing time we live in. Thanks so very much!! Love Melissa
