Skin tags are soft, small balloon-shaped benign growth connected to the surface of the body by a thin stalk of skin. They are generally irregular in appearance, and their texture is normally smooth. Skin tags are extremely common, and usually occur in areas where the skin folds, like the armpits, neck, and the eyelids.
Over 46% of the population have them, and they are usually removed for aesthetic reasons.

Do not confuse skin tags with moles which are usually oval or round, with a distinct edge and a smooth surface. You shouldn’t attempt to remove moles on your own.
Warts are cylindrical or dome-like in shape, with a rough texture. They form on the surface of the skin itself, and consequently the majority of warts do not dangle off of the skin. Warts may or may not form in clusters of several warts.
If you are considering removal, and you’re unsure which skin condition you have, please consult your GP or dermatologist.
