My Octavia is doing exactly this. Overheats after warm up. It used to recover if I pulled in for a minute or two and then be fine until parked up for a week or so (I've a van also). but now it's taking longer and happening more often. Timing belt and water pump done 70k km ago. Thanks for the info

My Kodiaq 2019 is giving overheating warning after about 5 minutes of driving, with gauge going near 130 deg on water temp, when I pull in for a few minutes it goes back to 190 deg & is fine for the rest of journey,the engine doesn’t feel overheating when I lift the bonnet, only 46km on the car, surly this is not a common problem on a 50k car

My friends 2019 Skoda Kodiaq is doing this, ( 42500 miles )Arnold Clark wanted to charge him £880 for new pump and wet belt. He picked it up today and drove it home no issues with the water temperature, but it happen last week when he went further down the motorway, he pulled off ,stopped the engine, waited 10 minutes and started off again with no further issues. Is there an alternative option to remedy this, he’s not got a lot of spare cash?

Hi there. Thanks for the video. Mine started to play up after the car was not used for a few weeks. Things got back to normal now. Could the solenoid plug be unplugged when the water pump is in open position? This would prevent closing and overheating. Thank you.

Yes, the water pump sleeve rests in the back position so yes, once it isn’t getting hot I presume you could disconnect it and it shouldn’t get stuck again. Check out this short video 🙏👍 kzitem.info/news/bejne/y6pstqeEb3Vip3o

Just ask for an O.E quality brand when at your supplier. Once the parts are O.E quality you can’t go too far wrong. But Gates is quite good & very popular 🤔

Hey, me too, very slowly losing coolant, but my timing belt and water pump was already changed. The timing belt kit is Continental, the water pump is factory original. The coolant loss can be due to leaks, failed EGR cooler or head/headgasket problem, according to what I read.

The pump the local garage changed before was aparantly a "smaller pump that's no more complex than a washer pump", I watched this video with them and they said "that's the main pump and needs cam belt change... £600" Main dealer it is then!

@@deathrising6220 there are 3 water pumps on this engine 2 electric pumps ( 1 for heater & 1 for the intercooler ) The main waterpump is mechanical & electrical, like the 1 that I removed. The electrical side of it fails. The timing belt kit & waterpump does need to be changed. Any garage could do this & it would be around €500

If you just disconnect the brown feed, will this sort the issue as a quick fix?
@kennedysgarage3281

Unfortunately not in most cases, due to the seal getting distorted and stopping the sleeve over the impeller from coming back. When it gets stuck out it inhibits water pumping. Which is a mechanical failure rather than electrical 🙏🙏👍
