Did you know that Skrjabin had a rare disease called "synesthesia"? It made him see different colours when he heard different pitches or chords. Maybe this is the reason why his music feels so colourful to me. It is packed with so much imagery, ecstasy, longingness, drama and lyricism. I had a great time performing this incredible sonata in my Bachelor’s graduation concert. Skrjabin himself called it "Sonata-Fantasy". The fantasy aspect in the sonata is the most important thing to keep in mind while performing the piece. According to Skrjabin it should evoke images of the sea in different atmospheres and weathers. It is a journey from the foggy, mysteriously glowing seashore at night to the raging thunders and huge waves in a storm. Close your eyes and see what images come to your mind! Hope you liked my performance of this masterpiece. Let me know what you think in the comments below! Have you listened to or even played other pieces by Skrjabin? Your pianist Magnus ✨

Well done, subscribed! Scriabin is the best - I want to learn his Fantasy in B minor at some point - I’m learning some of his preludes (and uploading!) in preparation. His larger works are big undertakings

Wonderful performance!! I actually have a pianist friemd that has synesthesia and it is very cool to hear his interpretations of different pieces! And i have listened to other pieses of skrjabin, but I have never actually played any. I know it is a huge request, so its perfectly fine if you dont, but you should attemt the liszt sonata. Maybe I will learn it in the future. Though I don’t like it that much tbh. But that can change over time 😄

@MagnusBaumgartl Oh, that's perfectly fine. If you don't enjoy it, th3n there is no sense in learning it.
